FINALLY....WE'RE BACK

I am just starting up again on the blog thing. If I think of significant things then I will write them but from the end of June to end of August is a blur.

Wow, I can not believe that Canon is 10.5 months already! He weighed 18 lbs 15 oz and was 29 inches long at his appt today. He has a cold and are watching the right ear to make sure it doesn't turn into a nasty infection. We had to wait a 1/2 hour for the dr today to do his ear recheck and waiting with a squirmy baby that wants to explore is difficult. I should have put shoes on him so he could have cruised around but I didn't and then he wouldn't sit still so it was a challenging appt. but we got through it.

I spent all weekend with Canon while Bill was on his annual bike trip with the boys. We had fun. We hung out with Aunt Beth and Uncle Conor. Canon had his first trip to Whole Foods with Aunt Beth and Uncle Conor. Canon and I went to Costco and he picked out a book. He was such a good patient little boy. It was so cute at the end of the trip he was putting his head on the cart handle and reaching out to me because he wanted me to hold him so I picked him up and maneuvered the gigantor cart to the checkout. He gots lots of smiles and coos from everyone there though.

Let's see Canon is doing lots now. On the weekends are when we see the most development. Things he is now doing:

  1. Pulling himself up on things. He's been doing that for about a month now.
  2. Becoming an expert crawler (he's FAST).
  3. I would say he is cruising now along furniture at times.
  4. Playing with the buttons on the tv now.
  5. Chasing the kitty.
  6. Saying mama and dada.
  7. Reaching out for people.
  8. Reaching out for you to pick him up in his crib.
  9. Standing up in his crib.
  10. Pushing away things.
  11. Holding his bottle.
  12. Drinking out of a sippy cup.
  13. Eating cheerios like they're going out of style.
  14. Trying every kind of food he can get his pincer grasp on ;0)
  15. Displaying separation anxiety when you aren't in the same room.
  16. Sometimes gets upset when you are not playing with him. He likes when you are down at his level.
  17. Fights you when you are trying to strap him into his carseat.
  18. Throws toys and nuks. Also puts his nuk back in.
  19. Likes cords and wires! Zoiks!!!
  20. GROWING UP SO FAST! I look at him sometimes and already can't believe how big he is and how much he knows already.

Well, until next time. Take care!

Canon's view

Oh my goodness we have not blogged since Mothers Day! Mom & Dad are so busy with other stuff that I decided I would update the blog since it hasn’t been done in over a month!

Let’s see, all of my stitches are gone so I am happy about that and I think mom & dad are going to get my jumperoo back out for me to play in! I can’t wait!

We went to New York and saw my Uncle Andy during Memorial Day weekend. I also got my second tooth during the trip. We left on Thursday and came back on Tuesday. It was my first airplane trip and I was only 7 months. Mommy’s first airplane trip was when she was 17! Daddy’s was to Montana when he was a teenager. How weird! Anyway, I loved it. I sat on mommy and daddy’s lap the whole way there and flirted with all the ladies on the plane and in the airport. I am a HUGE flirt! Our family loved upstate New York. We had a great time in Hudson. We went for lots of walks and ate out lots and talked lots. We took the train to New York City, how neat. We also took the subway and I got first rate treatment on every plane, train, and automobile that I rode on ;0) I felt so special and happy and most of the time I slept and/or flirted.

While in New York City we went to Canal Street and mommy went with a stranger to buy some silly purses! Mommy should know better than to do that but we were glad when she came back. Uncle Andy was keeping a close eye on her and I was fussing because Dad & I weren’t happy!

We went to the top of the rock and saw the empire state building and could see all the way to the Statue of Liberty and all of Central Park. I loved seeing all the buildings and it was a beautiful day. We also went to FAO Shwartz and that is where mommy had to collect milk for me and locked herself in the family bathroom to do so, poor mommy, she was pretty stressed that day but we did okay. I also saw a flamenco guitar concert and I started laughing and loved when everybody clapped because I knew they were clapping for me. Everyone really enjoyed the music and Uncle Andy bought all of her cds so we listened to her music on our drives. We went to Ikea in Connecticut to help Uncle Andy with his kitchen and apartment decorating and what a nice scenic drive that was. We also went for a drive in the mountains and it was so picturesque. Mommy had to sit in the front so she wouldn’t get sick while we went up and around the mountains, she’s been known to do that before. At least that’s what daddy told me ;0)

We also went to see Shrek 3 and I napped a lot during that but it was a good flick. We then got some ice cream and then decided to go see Pirates 3 and so we did. It was so exciting; I was squealing and laughing during that too. I enjoyed both movies.

When we got back from New York mommy and daddy had to get me ready to stay with Grandma Cathy & Grandpa Frank while they went to Austin, TX. I had been hearing that word a lot lately. Grandma & Grandpa came down to Berkley on Friday so I could spend another night with mommy & daddy before their trip. They left early on Saturday and came and picked me up on Tuesday night. I had a great time up north. I even made a new friend, Journey. He is their dog and we got along great. I really like to pet him and grab a hold of his fur.

Well when mommy and daddy picked me up mommy said that she wasn’t sure if she really didn’t like Austin or just missed me so much and that didn’t help things. They took until Thursday and told the firm no. They said it was in their heads financially but not in their hearts emotionally. If they had to move there it wouldn’t be bad but since they didn’t they decided to stay in Michigan. I am pretty happy because I would miss my grandparents, family, daycare, my Beaumont friends, Michigan!

Since then mommy and daddy have been able to move on with things and plan for the future. They have been test driving cars and making sure that my carseat fits in them but they haven’t found any that they love yet. I just go along with the flow and nap when I can :0)

I went to the Michigan Ikea recently too. Mommy got me some cute mini stuffed animals and some more bowls. Mommy & daddy bought closets since their bedroom is in need of them badly. They are also trying to live simpler and declutter. They are going to have to because I will be getting more stuff as I grow so we will need more room :0)

I got my 9 months pictures done at Metrobeach. I was kind of tired but I tried to participate. I changed into 3 outfits and rode a boogie board. I walked in the water with mom but it was TOO cold so I picked my feet up and clung to mommy and she took me away from it. She’s a good mom. Dad also held me and fed me and tried to make me smile when I didn’t feel like it. I guess Lisa took 95 pictures and she seemed nice. I flirted with her when I felt like it so we will see how I look. I know mommy is more concerned with the pictures than I am anyway.

I am really trying to get this crawling thing down. I keep pushing myself backwards but I just can’t get the forward thing. I also got some new toys that I love to play with. Mom brought out my drop and roar dinosaur and I love the roll-a-round balls and the noises the dinosaur makes. My peek-a-blocks are fun too. I just can’t seem to figure out the musical box they are in though :0) The other thing is a leap frog table type thing. I can sit and pull at fabric and plastic tags or stand and push abc buttons and piano buttons and stuff. I really like all of them.

I am also getting SO strong. I can now pull and put myself into a sitting position. I roll over all the time and do a lot of push ups. I also can reach my mobile and talk and grab my animals all the time. I try to stand but most of the time I like to wiggle up and down so I haven’t got that down yet. When dad tries to walk with me to mom I don’t know to put one foot in front of the other but I am sure it will come eventually. After all I am still a little guy although mommy and daddy say I look like a little boy more and more everyday.

I am eating meat, fruit, veggies, and mixed grain cereal now. Mom & dad are trying to bulk me up. I only weigh around 17 pounds. I have two teeth although I am not sure what to do with them except bite the spoon when I am being fed. I also just don’t want to be in my highchair sometimes but I have to be because I have to eat so sometimes eating is a long process for me.

I also went into Uncle Conor & Aunt Beth’s pool recently. I had a floatie and some Huggies swimmers diapers on so I didn’t get a soppy diaper. I just let mom and dad pull me around in my floatie and I wasn’t sure about the water but I trusted them so it was okay. I would like to try again and I am sure now that it is summer I will.

One last thing, I miss my Brooke and Ian and gang. I stopped seeing Brooke on the 20th. Mommy stayed home with me on Thursday and researched a couple of daycares and decided on one so we went there and she stayed with me for an hour and a half and then I stayed by myself with Erica & Vicky until she picked me up an hour and a half later. There is another baby there my age and her name is Bree. I get along well with her. There are lots of preschoolers so I get exhausted just watching them. Mommy gets a little write-up everyday so she can see how I did. I am not napping very well there but maybe once I get used to it I will do better. I am off to the zoo tomorrow so I will let you know how that went soon.

Love from the Zaskes!

Mother’s Day Weekend

Friday

Beth & Conor came over on Friday and we had fruit salad, Caesar salad, au gratin potatoes, and steak for dinner and it was delicious. They played with Canon and gave him his present from Greece and us. They brought back a glass “eye”. It is good luck in Greece and many people hang them in their homes so I hung it on Canon’s dresser. I’m sure he’ll like to stare at it soon too. They brought me back chocolate and Bill back worry beads. He is going to take them to work so he can use them when he worries. I think it’s an excellent idea, maybe it will save some fingernails ;0)

Saturday

I went to 2 mom2mom sales with my friend Sam this weekend and got some things. It is SO fun to go to those; you never know what you might pick up. I took Canon and he was pretty good most of the time. I bought this bottle thing that is like a nipple with a long tube that goes to the bottle so my pampered (not holding the bottle yet) little boy can eat when its hard to feed him on the go. What does he go and do, he pulls the tube right off and I am like are you kidding me. The kid is a genius. I put it back on and we got through most of the bottle so I was pretty happy. Alex (Sam’s little b0y) was so quiet the whole time. Canon is quite a talker and flirt, kind of like his parents. The acorn doesn’t fall too far from the tree I guess.

I then went to my teeth cleaning and chatted with my hygienist about my baby and her new baby and it was actually a nice visit to the dentist because we chatted so much. I also got to show off Canon’s 6 month pictures. I then went and picked Canon up so Bill & Mickey could demo some BMWs since our friend Chris told them about it. They had fun. They came home and then got the bike out and put together Bill’s parts washer that he got in February and had fun hanging out. Canon and I hung out inside and had a nice time.

Sunday – My first Mother’s Day! May 13th

I think one of the coolest things about being a mom is being part of the mom club. There are a lot of us out there and we can always relate to each other in some way. I was at the DIA and one of the ladies said “Happy Mothers Day” to me and thought it was SO cool that it was my first.

We went to the DIA to see the Ansel Adams exhibit and took Canon. He was pretty good, you can only ask him to stay in his stroller for so long so I carried him some but Bill carried him the rest of the time. It was a really cool exhibit. I saw a picture that I love that I had never seen before so I bought a postcard of it and then I bought a postcard of a sculpture outside the DIA for Canon’s book to record his first visit.

Canon got me a card that was perfect. I love it! He also got me sterling silver beaded earrings and a sterling silver beaded name bracelet. Canon is the name on it of course. It has a heart toggle closure that is so sweet too. I will wear it often and think of my precious little boy.

Monday – My day off

Canon slept on me most of the morning and then let me hold him and play with him the rest. He actually let me pick up the bedroom so that was nice. I laid him in the middle of the bed and put pillows on both sides in case he decided to explore but he really didn’t. He practiced sitting and tummy time and he was content with that.

Beth & Conor & Mickey came over to help Bill with some car work on the Taurus and Beth played with Canon so I was able to get his laundry folded and put away so that was SO nice of her to do.

Well I must go. I will try to update more! Take care everyone!

And We're Back.....

Oh my goodness it has been too long! Let me say how sorry I am to you faithful blog readers. Life has been passing us by lately. Bill has been trying to recover from his torn ham string. He went to the dr. and she confirmed that he definitely hurt himself and to take it easy for 4-6 weeks. He has been wrapping it with ace bandages and watching it slowly creep down his leg. It is actually looking much better and believe me it was really nasty in the beginning and hurt a lot.

Our brother-in-law Kevin had another stint put in and he is home from the hospital and doing well. He was there for only a day and a half ;0)

Canon is recovering wonderfully from his surgery as well. Its hard to believe that its only been a month and he is still ready and raring to go.

Beth & Conor went to Greece and are back ;0) We missed them terribly and they missed Canon too. They have been over a couple of times since they got back to see him. Susie & Dan have also watched Canon and enjoy spending time with him as well. It is SO great to have such wonderful friends and babysitters ;0) wink wink!

My friends Barry & Sarah had their baby on May 4th. He was 5 weeks early and weighed 5 lbs 15 ½ ozs so he would have been big had he gone until June 4th. He had to stay in the hospital because he was having some breathing issues but he gets to come home today in fact ;0)

Bill has taken the past 2 Fridays off to spend with Canon because we have had daycare issues but they always have fun together so he doesn’t mind too much!

CANON’S BIG NEWS! HE HAS A TOOTH! Bill discovered it on Friday (May 11th ;0) It is really sharp too! I was SO proud and still am. Pretty soon he'll be getting more chompers too!

He is turning on the aquarium in his crib now and crawling around in the crib and ending up in all kinds of strange positions. It is fun to watch him but not at 2 in the morning, which has been his preference lately ;0)

He doesn’t like to be left alone in his gym anymore. Whenever Bill or I leave the room he cries and gets upset until we come back in!

He has been through all of the vegetables in stage 1 so we are moving on to bananas and pears next ;0) I was hesitant about fruit but I am sure he will eat fruit or veggies with no problem because there hasn’t been anything he hasn’t liked yet!

There is talk of us moving to Austin TX in the future but on a scale of 1-10 I am at a 1 and Bill is at a 3 so time will tell. We will do what is best for the family and Bill’s career and I will do whatever. Maybe I could stay home with Canon….

Thursday, May 3rd

Tonight was our first official softball game. DSA vs. BEI. We beat them 18-12. We won!! But, there is a down side... I was sprinting from 2nd to 3rd, (I was moving so fast that everything else around me started to slow down, I think I just proved Einstein's speed of light theories are correct...) then I felt a "pop" in the back of my leg... At that point I hobbled to 3rd (safe of course). I pulled (according to Trent, I may have tore) my hamstring. Since I never have really have injuried myself like this before, it was not fun. It did not hurt so much when I walked around, but bending, stretching that sucks.

Canon and Joleen came to the game. Joleen spent most of the game worried about foul balls. Seriously, there were a couple of balls hit in their general direction, but nothing terribily close. It got a little chilly towards the end of the game, Joleen and Canon were very cute all cuddled up in a blanket. She was cussing the field location, because she couldn't just pull the car up to the field and watch the game (like at Joe's track meets in High School).

Wednesday, May 2nd

Today was parent group night. Unfortunately, I had to go to a meeting at Cranbrook until 8:30 pm, which meant that I missed most of group (actually all of the group activities). I got there just in time to help Joleen pack up Canon and leave. But, I understand that Canon was the life of the party. He was showing everyone his "no" nod, and his scooching exercises. He also sat up on his own for the first time (only for a few seconds, but that still counts).

Tuesday, April 24th

Today I went to Jo-anns at lunch because I needed frames for Canon's 6 months pictures. I bought Bill a new frame for Canon's 5 x 7. It is a nice black one that is "daddy appropriate". I bought another one for my desk too because when I flip months on my calendar I need to put Canon's pictures somewhere ;0) My cube at work is like a personal shrine to Canon. It is crazy. I can't remember anything else that was signficant today.

Wednesday, April 25th

Canon had his surgical follow-up appt today and the doctor said everything looks great. He wants to see him in another month though so I won't be convinced until then!

Canon decided to roll from his back to his tummy and back today. I of course missed it because I was in the kitchen for a second but oh well he'll do it again.

We had a good day today so we decided to go out to Pasquales and just celebrate our good day. Canon behaved so well. Everyone in the restaurant fawned over him. He flirted with all of the waitresses and then played with his highchair suction toy. I highly recommend that everyone have at least one of these toys. They stick to the table so they don't get thrown on the nasty floor at restaurants and stuff. He then fell asleep when our dinner came so we got to eat and talk. It was really nice.

Thursday, April 26th

I had a meltdown in the morning because I couldn't find a shirt to wear. All of my shirts seem to be too short after baby. I know why too! I hope when I am done nursing that they fit again because I have a lot of shirts that I can not wear right now. My pants I seem to be slowly getting back into but not the shirts. Anyways it wasn't a good morning.

Bill didn't have softball today since it rained all day. He told me to go out and buy some new clothes. I went out to Kohls and returned some things and bought like 5 shirts and a pair of jeans and then 2 dress shirts for Bill and I got Kohls cash so I felt better. I was back by 8:30 to help with Canon's bath and the nightime ritual and I was so happy that I had a deadline otherwise I would have wandered too much!

Friday, April 27th

Today was Canon's 6 month well baby visit. He weighed 15 lbs, 12.5 ozs and is 26 inches long. He is in the 25-50 percentile so he is doing well. He also got another set of shots so that was tough for him! I stopped at Potbelly's on my way home for dinner and then Bill & I ate and Canon slept. We were going to go Bill's last soccer game with him but Canon was still sleeping when Bill had to leave so we just stayed home. I vegged while Canon slept and I think he slept until like 3 am or something.

Saturday, April 28th

We got on the road at a little before 9 and decided to keep Canon in his sleeper because he was still sleeping and then snuck him in his carseat and were off on our way up north. We dropped the Taurus off at AHOC so I could just have Bill drop me off for the shower on Sunday. I then drove us all the way up north. Canon woke up a little before Flint and was kind of like "where am I" but he was fine and just looked out the window and babbled.

We got to Bill's parents around 11 and then went down to Great Aunt Joyces for the surprise 90th birthday party for Canon's great grandma Brugger. I think he was the life of the party. Everyone asked all about him and wanted to hold him and coo at him. He thought it was great fun and took a few naps during the day but not many. It was nice to see family and old friends so we had a good time.

We went to see my parents at dinner at 6 and got done around 8. We made sure Canon saw both sets of grandparents and everyone got to hold him. We gave everyone their pictures and I printed out a lot of snapshots and put them in albums and I told everyone to take any pictures they wanted from there too. I accidentally duplicated or triplicated my order so I need to pay attention to that next time I order pictures!

We brought Canon's gym up north so he played in that a lot and entertained everyone. He was rolling all over and getting stuck and frustrated so it was pretty fun to watch! We helped him when he reached his frustration point but most of the time let him figure it out on his own. When he wasn't playing he was being held or sleeping or sleeping while being held! That seems to be his favorite. Grandpa Z. has his jiggling/bouncing motion he does when he holds Canon and it always puts him right to sleep. It's a pretty cute trick!

Sunday, April 29th

We left up north around 10:45 and got to AHOC around 12:40 and then I went to Barry & Sarah's shower. It was really nice and fun. It was at Mongolian BBQ so the food was EXCELLENT! I love Mongo! I ate there all the time when I was pregnant! They got a lot of nice stuff and I stayed after to help load and clean up.

The shower was 2 hrs and then I stopped at Carters on my way home because I had a 20% off coupon I needed to use. I wanted to get some plain 9 months onesies but they had shipped theirs back due to quality reasons so I was not able to get them. I did find a bib, pants, and a onesie all 70% off that I used my coupon on and paid under $10 total, so I thought that was good. I bought it in 12 months since we have a lot of summer stuff! I then came home and hung out with Canon while Bill did some outdoor stuff.

Canon & I decided to go outside and say hi to our neighbors. Phil was outside and so was his dog, Bernie so he was checking Canon out and then I went inside to get shoes on to go over there so they could visit with Canon and they had walked over and were talking to Bill so I chatted with them. They are almost halfway through their pregnancy and their big ultrasound is this week so they are excited. We told them to ask us any questions they may have. We then took Canon over to meet Paul & Patty, our neighbors across the street so he was socializing lots today!

We gave Canon carrots for the first time today and he seemed to like them so that is good. We are going to be onto green beans next Sunday and then peas and all kinds of other fun veggies!

We gave Canon a bath and I packed away some clothes and brought out some new ones and that was pretty much our day.

Monday, April 30th

I got to spend most of the day with Canon. I had a drs appt at 11 that I had to fast for so the morning was a bit tough for me! Bill dressed him in the cutest outfit that I had not even got the chance to see him in yet and it was a 6 months so I was happy when I came back from the dr and saw that it fit him fine.

Canon was kind of cranky today and wanted to be held while he slept so that was pretty much our morning. I think he is teething and also hasn't had a bowel movement for like a day so I don't think that's helping things! Sometime during the day I put him in his gym to play and he rolled from back to tummy, grabbed his taggy blanket and then rolled back onto his back and chewed on his blanket. I was fascinated, I think (we think) he is a genious! He seems to be rolling more and scooting more so I think crawling may be coming soon. We need to start baby proofing to prepare for that.

He is not holding his bottle with his hands yet and that will be nice when he does but he actually took the bottle out of his mouth yesterday using his two feet! He then tried to put it back in using his feet. I cracked up, he is quite flexible!

Fun Filled Weekend!!

Thursday – April 19th

Today I went to New York & Company for lunch. I had a spend $40 and get $20 off coupon and everything was 40% off so I had to go! I got a pair of khakis and 3 shirts for $28 so I was ecstatic! All of my shirts are too short for me lately so I needed to get some new longer ones. I was SO proud of myself because I was back at a decent time from lunch and I only went to one store ;0)

Tonite I picked Canon up from daycare and everyone was outside because it was beautiful. When we got home Canon ate some more of his bottle and then went to sleep for like 2.5 hrs, poor little guy was tired. He deserves to be tired because he has been through a lot this month. He is so strong and brave! Daddy was at the first softball game and we decided not to go because it was just the office playing each other so it was kind of like a scrimmage. I guess Bill’s team won 26-25. Hmm, kind of a high score I wonder what happened there!

When Bill got home we gave Canon a bath and fed him since he was awake and then lightly swaddled him and put him in his crib and he went to sleep.

I forgot to blog that we got Canon’s newborn pictures and 3 months framed in beautiful 3 slot frames by one of the guys I work with. He did a wonderful job and his price was so reasonable too. I think he will get a lot of our work, 6 months, 9 months, a year! Goodness all of these pictures ;0)

Friday – April 20th

I was SO happy it was Friday. Beth and Conor wanted to spend all day with Canon and watch him tonite too so we said sure.

They came over at 7:30 and then Bill was off to work. I of course called around 10 to make sure that Bill told them everything he needed to because that’s me and I’m the mom ;0) They took Canon for a walk around lunchtime and went to see Bill and he got to hang out with Canon at lunch so he thought that was nice ;0) I was envious!

They took him to Cost Plus World Market and Barnes and Noble and he was a good boy. He napped and played and did tummy time. They are so good about playing with him and making him do tummy time. They also got to feed him his rice cereal and sweet potatoes and had fun doing that.

When Bill & I got home they looked exhausted and we felt guilty about going out but still did ;0) They told us to and to stay out until 10. Well we went to pick up Canon’s pictures and they turned out pretty good. We now have more pictures to frame so I will have to talk to Greg about that ;0) Then on to dinner at J. Alexanders. We had tortillas and spinach queso dip, filet, baked potatoes, and carrot cake. It was a nice time for us. We got to talk and just be together with no one waiting on the other one to finish eating so one of us can watch Canon. Since we were at Somerset we had to go to Gymboree, Gap, and Baby Gap! We found some cute shirts at Gymboree that we had to get for the baby boy :0) At Gap I found a really nice long sleeved shirt that was long so I can wear it with my hot mommy jeans. When Beth, Kristy, Susie and I had our girl’s day we all bought these jeans and Kristy and I call them our hot mommy jeans ;0) I know we are silly. Anyways, then I went to Baby Gap and found this little stuffed dump truck rattle toy so we bought that and Canon seemed to like it. If its bright and can be chewed on that it pretty much passes his test ;0)

Saturday – April 21st

I went to the Berkley mom2mom sale with my friend Sam and her little one Alex. Canon stayed home with daddy because no strollers were allowed and we can’t put him in the carrier yet because he is not allowed to be in any straddle things until 1 month from his surgery. Anyways, we all had a good time. I found a photographer that we might use for his 9 month pictures. She has some really cool things that she can do and I liked her stuff. Her website is http://www.picturethisbylisa.com/. She says you get to keep the proofs and her print prices are SO reasonable! We talked about how I would like them outside and she gave some good suggestions so we will see.

When I got home Bill went and got his hair cut. He laughed and said now he looks even more like Canon. Well then we decided since it was such a nice day that we would take a walk. We put on Canon’s floppy hat and off we went. We walked in Huntington Woods and admired the neighborhood and the scenery. I think that when we move it will either be to there or another place in Berkley. They are both really nice towns. We found out that Canon does NOT like the sun. He is SO our child. He scrunches up his face and turns his head into you so we tried to be in the shade as much as we could. We probably walked 2 miles and then came home and all napped. That night we went to a barbeque in Ferndale since our friend Andy was in town. Canon was the life of the party. Everyone thought he was so cute and well behaved. He kept trying to grab Bill’s beer bottle so everyone had a chuckle about that. We got to hear the hurricane story from Andy with Mickey breaking in when he needed to. It was hilarious, Andy is an awesome story-teller, and we miss him dearly! We then did the nighttime ritual.

Sunday – April 22nd

We had Einstein bagels and read the paper, our Sunday ritual. We then got ready to go to the zoo and then Canon fell asleep so we ate our lunch that Bill had packed for the zoo and waited for him to wake up. We ended up getting to the zoo around 1:00. We first went to the butterfly house. Canon liked it except when the sun was on him. The hat we put on him was too big and annoyed him and us all day so we need to remember not to put him in that till a little later on. He thought the butterflies were cool and stared at them and liked to look up at all the plants and windows. A lot of the animals were not out so and it was hot so we stayed for like 1.5 hrs. We got to see the giraffes but it was hard for him to see because he was in the stroller and they have all of those concrete walls and fences so we had to take him out and then he just got too tired so we decided to go. We did get to see the white rhinos and the hippo so that was cool. The rhinos are new and the hippo is never out. The hippo even went underwater and was swimming so Bill and I liked that!

We bought Canon a book to commemorate his first trip to the zoo and then went home. I waited in line SO long and there were so many people there that we were happy to go home. I hung out with Canon and played and Bill took a nap and then Canon sacked out later and we both took a nap.

We gave him squash today and he seemed to like it. We also tried to get him to drink out of a sippy cup but it came out too fast so he spit everything that was in his mouth out. We need to put the valve in and then try it again.

Beth & Conor came over later and loved him up because they are leaving for Greece on Thursday and will be gone 10 days so they will be missing him. I can’t even imagine leaving him for that long :0( I am worried about our weekend in July when it will be 2 nights so we will see. Kristy made him a tag blanket so they brought that over for him. It has ribbon tags on the end and is Detroit lions fabric!

Monday – April 23rd

Everyone had a case of the Mondays today, including Canon. Brooke called a couple of times and asked how he was this weekend and we said fine. He was tired and wouldn’t eat so she was having a day.

I did some fun stuff at work today and Bill only worked till 6 so that was nice. Canon and I got the mail after we got home from daycare and then we sat on the couch and he ate some and then fell asleep. We laid him in his crib and then ate. He got up around 7 and then we played and cuddled, ate, took a bath and went to bed.

Interesting things about Canon:

1. He does NOT like the sun!
2. He’s adorable ;0)
3. He is now in 6-9 month clothing and is outgrowing some 6 month so he’s moving to 9 month.
4. He loves to pull earrings and necklaces.
5. He loves to give you kisses on your nose, cheeks, and chin. They are kind of slobbery but sweet.
6. He loves to receive kisses and raspberries.
7. He enjoys laughing and laughs really hard when you start laughing!
8. His laugh sounds like he’s swallowing himself. (his mamas sounded like that when she was little too)
9. He is scooting all over the place now with his head and his butt. He hasn’t gotten the hang of the tummy yet but does a lot with his butt.
10. He loves to chew on things! Puts everything in his mouth!
11. He is close to sitting up on his own and sometimes he is just too tired so he arches his back and lays down.
12. I think he is starting to like the camera!
13. He likes Hobbes and stares at him and touches him when he gets close enough to him.
14. He is putting his feet in his mouth and it is SO cute.
15. He loves to be naked!

Tuesday

Not too eventful. I did notice that Canon had a horribly red bottom so I put lots of balmex on it and questioned whether the sweet potatoes were going over well or not.... We gave him a bath and he is kind of learning how to splash, its lots of fun to watch.

Bill brought home the laptop so I could sleep while he worked and we got to chat about our days, it was nice.

Wednesday

We had Earth Day at work, that was kind of cool. Work was tough, we are trying to set my laptop up to be able to do development and compiling and its not working out so well :0(

Brooke called me around 3 something to see if she could put diaper rash cream on Canon because of his stitches and I told her yes. We started talking further and his bottom was red again today and it looked like there might have been hives and/or blisters. I called the pediatrician concerned about this and thinking it might be an allergy. I talked with them and had Bill take Canon in at 4 so they could look at it, they don't diagnose rashes over the phone. He does indeed have a rash and they are not sure if it's bacterial or if its a yeast infection. I am betting it is a yeast infection because of that stupid amoxycillin :0( We got some ointment and the ped said to be sure to keep putting neosporin on the stitches and incision so it doesn't get infected. I pray everyday that it doesn't get infected because I don't want him to have to go through that! Poor little guy has been through so much already. We are ready for April to be over!

I went to group tonite and we talked about sleep. I left the boys home so they could nap. I mingled with everyone and got to know some people better and have decided that the cliche don't judge a book by its cover is true ;0) We are all dealing with lots of stuff. RSV, rotavirus, ear infections, night terrors, yeast infections and surgeries... Then we talked about mom2mom sales and let the rest of the girls in on the secret ;0)

Well I gotta get ready for bed so good night all!

Monday, April 16th

Back to work and daycare after our nice relaxing, snuggly 4 day weekend. I didn't sleep well last night because Bill was at work quite late and I was not sleeping well without him so 5:30 came TOO early this morning.

Well Mommy goofed today because I took Thursday instead of today as my day off. I didn't schedule that with Brooke so she had too many kids to pick up the after school kids. She asked if Canon could be picked up at 3:00 so luckily our wonderful friends, Beth & Conor, saved us. Conor volunteered to watch Canon until I got home. Bill went and put the car seat in Conor's car and got Canon all settled and then went back to work and Conor brought Canon home.

I was successful at work today by learning to fix my mistakes. I completely wiped out the changes I fixed last week today so I got to debug my errors again, compile and move the changes to the test workstation to test the fixes. It is computer talk but I was quite proud of myself. My trainer was too.

I decided that after 7 years I should take my wedding dress in and get it preserved. I might have a girl some day... we'll see. I went to the drycleaner and they said that it looked great and that people have brought their dresses in that were older than 7 years! I felt good about that and relieved that I finally will have it preserved like it should be. Everyone there thought it was beautiful too ;0)

I came home and chatted with Conor and Bill came home and we ate. He then fed Canon while I did some other stuff and then we all took a nap. We woke up from our hour nap and then gave Canon a bath, got another bottle down him and then put him down for bedtime. Bill then went back to work :0( That seems to be his life lately. We are lucky that he puts our time first and then goes in after we are sleeping. We are lucky he is Canon's daddy and my hubby!

Well I must do some things before bed so, goodnight all!

Catch Up & Joleen's Version

Surgery

So, now is my turn to blog about the surgery. I am SO glad it is over. We spent all kinds of cuddle time and kept him up late on Wednesday night. Bill woke him up before 5 on Thursday and gave him Pedialyte and then we went back to sleep and Canon slept until 7:45 when we woke him up. We got to the hospital and didn't go by registration so some old cranky lady gave us a hard time but a nice woman from registration brought our paperwork up and we were set.

We got called in and we stripped Canon down and put him in a little hospital gown. It was huge on him and it was kind of girly but oh well nobody ever likes hospital gowns anyway. He was such a good boy and in a great mood. He smiled at all the doctors and flirted with the nurses as Bill said. He got a little fussy around 9:00 and then took an hour long nap and the nurse anesthetists (sp?) came in and were talking to me and then they were ready to take him and I didn't realize it and I was a little clung to the crib so I let go and kissed him and went to the waiting room with tears in my eyes and concern in my heart.

We decided to go get some water and we were told to hurry right back and we were given a pager. When we were on our way back the pager went off and I flew through the doors and Dr. Kass was on the phone and he had found cysts and asked if we could take them off. I was unprepared for this so I handed the phone to Bill and he took care of it.

I thought the hardest part would be seeing him go off but it turned out waiting was grueling. I don't remember exactly how long the surgery took but I think it was a little before noon when the dr. came and told us everything went well and they were just waiting on Canon to wake up. He took about an hour to wake up and just when I was starting to get really concerned and upset the nurse came in and said we could come into recovery and see him.

Looking at him with an iv and some other wires was really tough but he looked so cute all snuggled up in his warmed blanket and seemed like he was trying to stay awake but would drift off. We decided to start creeping the blanket back and the nurse said we could hold him so I did and then we got a 5 oz bottle down him and he perked right up and then we were off about 1:30 and took him home.

I picked up his prescription for Tylenol with Codeine while the boys slept but we did not end up using it because the regular strength Tylenol was working just fine.

Recovery & Friday

We got home and Canon was in a pretty good mood, still giggling and smiling and generally pretty happy. He napped a lot on Friday and we gave him 3-4 doses of regular strength Tylenol that day. When we changed his diaper that day and looked I almost cried because there was SO much work done down there. We refer to it as a train wreck. There was the circumcision of course and then there was stitches all down the ridge line where they took off the cysts. We have been putting Neosporin regular ointment on it and then used washcloths for awhile but stopped after a couple of days because that was giving him diaper rash, poor little guy. He was so good humored about everything though and continues to be.

I remember when Canon was first born and he peed on me a little but he outgrew that. Well now that he's been circumcised he is doing that again. I was all ready for Conor and Beth to come over and then when I was changing Canon I felt something wet on my forehead and my hair and determined that yes, he peed in my hair. I got to take 2 showers that day, little squirt!

Beth & Conor came over and brought us dinner and dessert and came to see Canon. We are so lucky and thankful for friends like them! Conor marveled at Canon's demeanor. It is because he is a baby. If it was one of us we would be feeling it.

Saturday

This day was like Friday and we stayed in because we didn't want to have to strap Canon into his carseat anymore than we absolutely need to. We have been holding him a lot and letting him play in his gym. I think Bill worked on Saturday afternoon and Canon and I napped and just hung out. It was nice to be able to spend so much time with him. Bill went out and got Chinese for us but it wasn't very good. We can not seem to find a consistently good Chinese restaurant besides PF Changs down here. We may just have to always use PF Changs from now on.

Sunday

Einstein day, bagels and the paper. Bill got breakfast and then went to work until noon and I hung out with Canon and tried to make a card with my scrapbook stuff but Canon was all excited by the paper and made it very challenging to do anything. We had taken a nap for an hour before that but once he was up he wanted to "help" mama too ;0) Cutie pie!

I left the boys and went to my friend Lori's baby shower. I hung out with a bunch of my friends from work and had a nice time. It was at Pasquales and they had a nice spread. Bread, salad, relish tray, mostaccioli, pizza and Costco cake - YUM! I got Baby Jacobs 2 cute sleepers, a teether, and 10 little board books that are for numbers 1-10 and have animals for each number. I should have bought one for Canon too but I need to restrain myself sometimes! Baby showers are pretty fun. I love to see the cute baby stuff.

After the shower I went to get tissue paper for another baby's gift, cubicle hooks from Office Depot and sweet potatoes, squash, and carrots for Canon.

We gave Canon jar food for the first time today. We gave him sweet potatoes and he was like, what is this stuff but kept opening his mouth and eating so he must have liked them. We gave him his oatmeal after that and his face was priceless, like oooh "this stuff is different than that other stuff mom & dad".

We also gave him a bath because it was 72 hrs after the surgery so we could. He was okay with it but I think it might have softened stitches and stuff up because he seemed like it hurt so we gave him Tylenol after and he was fine. He is such a trooper and an awesome little boy!

Thursday, April 12

Today was Canon's surgery. To say the least Joleen and I were nervious. Although, we knew that it was a realatively normal procedure (hypospatis repair and circumscion). The surgery was scheduled for 9:45am. Which we had hoped it would be earlier, because he normally has 2 bottles by that time in the morning. He was not supposed to eat anything after midnight, and not to drink anything less than four hours from the surgery. So, we fed him a little later on Wednesday night and then woke him up at 5:00am to have some pedilyte.

He was such a good boy in the morning. He was all smiles and giggling. Once we got to the hospital, he was flirting with all the nurses. He is a little charmer. His surgery went well, the doctor found a couple of cysts that he removed. Once out of surgery he slept for a very long time, even the nurses were wondering when he was going to wake up. Once he was awake, he was all smiles again. He is such a little trooper. He did not even cry or act cranky.

We are relived that he is fine and is still the same little boy that we love. Thank you all for the positive thoughts and prayers.

Thursday

Not much exciting happened today. I went to Jo-anns at lunch to buy some spray adhesive. I have a couple of projects I want to do for Canon using it. I have never worked with it before but Bill has so I know he will help me ;0) I also took some stuff back to Target. It was a blah day because of the weather. Canon went on a field trip to Caesarland with the kids and loved it though. I guess Brooke needed to get out. I think I would too. I told her she could have Caesarland but the first trip to the zoo is mine! I can not wait until it is warm so we can go there. It should be lots of fun for him.

He has been taking naps from like 7-10 and then getting up and eating and then going back to bed. Poor little guy he gets all tuckered out!

Friday

I went to work for 2 hours this morning. Bill called me around 7:30 and said that Brooke was sick so she would not be able to watch Canon today and Bill had a day ahead of him so I would need to watch him. No problem ;0) I love spending the day with him! I picked him up at Bill's work because he needed to go in earlier to get some stuff done for a meeting. I guess all of the girls in the office held Canon and played with him. When I got there he was sacked and was taking a nap. I decided that we were going to Toys R Us. They were having a special deal on Fisher-Price toys. You buy one for more than $20 and then you get one up the value of 19.99 for free. I wanted the drop and roar dinosaur for Canon so I decided to see if they had it. They sure did! I got that and then this cement mixer truck that dumps and spins and comes with 3 balls to play with. It was also buy any movie and get the second one half off. I got Canon Cars and Peter Pan. He was a lucky little boy today. He was so good too. He slept until we got into Toys R Us and then we woke up. It was like he knew he was in a toy store ;0)

We then went to Kohls and this is where he was like allright mom I'm done. I bought my socks and we went home. He fell asleep again so I let him sleep and I pumped and we waited for dad to get home. He got home and we packed and drove up north to my parents. It was not a bad drive. I tried to sleep but mostly I just rested in the back with Canon. We got up there around 8 something and then we fed Canon and he played with grandma and grandpa for a little while and then we swaddled him up and he went to bed.

Saturday

More time to visit with grandma and grandpa and play. Grandma made a big old turkey dinner and kept hinting that Canon wanted turkey and potatoes and everything he is not allowed to have yet. I need to keep my eye on these grandmas! My brother came up north and saw us and couldn't believe how big Canon has gotten. I know, sniff sniff. We left there around 5:00 and then went to Bill's parent’s house.

We got there and played and visited. Grandma & Grandpa watched Canon so Bill, me, Katie, Don (her boyfriend), and Ike could go out. We went out to see Wild Hogz and even had popcorn and pop. It was such a nice time and nice to get out.

Sunday

We played and visited and then went to Great Grandma Brugger’s for Easter. We had ham and grandma’s famous noodles. I can’t wait till Canon can have some of her noodles because they are the best. Shane and Bailey had an Easter egg hunt and Canon will be able to participate next year. He was content sleeping and being held.

We left Coleman around 5 something and got into Berkley a little before 8. We fed Canon and gave him a bath and then played a little and then put him to bed.

Monday

Bill took Canon to the pediatrician to check his ears and they are good. She said that we could start him on veggies anytime after his surgery too. I can NOT wait. We are going to start with sweet potatoes a couple of days after. He weighed 15 lbs 9 ozs today so he gained an oz in like a week or so.

When they got home Bill was trying to get him to play with his new cement mixer toy but once Canon found out that he couldn’t fit the balls in his mouth he was not impressed. Bill resorted back to the little stuffed giraffe that he likes to chew on and gave him that :0)

What a long day!!! I went and got pizza for dinner because neither one of us felt like cooking so we did that and we mostly slept and laid around. Canon went down for a nap around 7 or so and didn’t wake up until 1:00. He was a tired little guy. When he woke up he ate very little and Bill changed his soaked diaper and he went back to bed.

Tuesday

I missed the little guy all day today. I didn’t see him much Monday and didn’t see him at all this morning. We came home today and took a nap until dad got home. We then got up and ate some bottle and played. I brought down his Easter basket finally and he got to play with some new toys. I got this chicken that’s a finger puppet and he really likes that. I think it is a close second to his giraffe. I read him all 3 books he got and then snuggled and cuddled. I also fed him his oatmeal tonight and he took SO long. It was like he wanted it and then he didn’t but I kept trying. He is SO funny!

While we were changing him tonight he was trying to put his feet in his mouth and suck on them. It was cute watching that and we tried to capture it digitally but were not able to. I hope he does it more because it’s the cutest thing to watch. He was also talking up a storm like usual and his goos and gaas are getting more frequent and distinct.

Goodbye until tomorrow…

Wednesday

Back on track! I am finally updating my blog on the day it is. I went back to work today and nursed a coke in the morning and had some toast.

It was SO cold down here today and of course I wore my fancy leather spring jacket and not a wool one like a smart person would do! I froze when I went out to lunch. I have also taken to carrying my umbrella because it is STUPID nesting season for the geese and they are attacking people if you go near them. Now hear this all of you stupid geese, Canada wants you, WE don't! We take their trash, why can't they take their darn geese! Sorry - little rant there!

Anyways, tonite was group and Sam and Chris's house. It was about childhood illnesses and they talked about good stuff. They said ear infections are not contagious but the virus that can cause them is! This pretty much sums it up - viruses stink! We left early so Bill could go into work and we could feed Canon cereal and put him to bed at a decent time. It was funny, a lot of other babies were crying but Canon was peacefully sleeping away :0) It is such fun to watch him when he sleeps!

Oh and btw he now weighs, 15 lbs 8 oz and will be 6 months on Monday! He has surgery on Thursday of next week so I may drift off on the blogging again but I'll try to keep everyone up-to-date!

He is being circumcized now because the pediatric urologist wanted to wait and they are going to fix the mild case of hypospadia. Here is a link for more about it.

Roller Coaster Ride

Saturday

We introduced Canon to oatmeal on Saturday. He was like hmm not really all that into it. I think he is just as happy with rice cereal, silly boy. He ate it like a good boy though.

We took Canon to get his 6 month pictures done. It was a good time. He could have cooperated a little more but oh well I am sure we got some cute ones! I think I will always remember to wear black because photographers LOVE that. I feel so bad for the photographer because she is doing everything out of her living room and she really wants to turn her garage into a studio and she desperately needs too but we all know how much remodeling costs! Anyways, we were done by noon and got there around 10. We all had puppets in our hands and made faces at him and sang and just did silly stuff. He must have been thinking "these guys are cracking me up, they'll actually act this silly just so I'll smile" :0)

After that we came home and I had a girls day that started at 1:00 pm and went till 1:00 am! CRAZY! We went all over. It was such a blast to hang out with the girls. Our timing was always last minute but we made it to the stores on time and we even closed Gymboree! Kristy and I had to have some tractor stuff and it was ON SALE!

Sunday

I was so tired on Sunday. We did the usual, read the newspaper, Canon likes to try and rip it and eat it now. He gets so excited that his hands shake and he smiles real big like huh huh! Bill went to work for quite awhile on Sunday and Canon and I hung out and had a nice day.

When we put Canon to bed it took 2 hours. That is not normal. We determined he had gas and needed to poop so we tried the remedies and he did end up drifting off to sleep.

Monday

My day off! Canon was crying for like an hour straight, I could tell something was up. I called the ped and got an appt. Well right after that he had a huge stinky full diaper. I changed him and he was happy. I decided to still go to the ped's office though. Good thing! Canon had a little infection in each ear! Oh yea, another first, and an unwelcome one at that! I went and filled the Amoxycillin and then Bill came home at lunch and we gave it to him, he took it so well and he liked the "cherry" taste! He must have been thinking, "this is different, I think I like it, mommy and daddy wouldn't steer me wrong, right?"

Tuesday

I was SO sick. Not good. I ached all over and was so weak and it just wasn't a pleasant day. Bill took Canon to daycare and I slept. They came home around 5 and then around 5:45 Canon went down for a nap from then until 10. Bill went into work around 9 because he couldn't wait any longer for baby boy to wake up. When he got up I fed him and gave him his medicine and then Bill came home so we both put Canon to bed ;0)

Friday, March 30

We had a early game tonight, in fact we did not even have another team to play. So, we split up our team and played each other. It was fun playing against people you know.

Canon scratched his nose tonight, normally that would not be a big deal, but tomorrow is his 6 month pictures. Joleen can not believe he did that, but I told her that I cut my hair in the 4th grade the day before pictures (a nice square chopped out of the center of my bangs). Father like Son.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Thursday, March 29

I was hoping today was Friday all day. I went out to lunch with my girlfriends today to Olive Garden. It was a great time. On our way out to the parking lot from work was the funniest though. Since it is nesting season for the geese down here they are very territorial. One came after us squawking away and flapping its wings. I have never seen a pregnant woman run so fast. Lori was hilarious and I was oblivious to what was going on since I was walking way ahead of everyone - too funny.

Canon had a rough morning at daycare and he doesn't seem to be eating well there so I am not sure what is up. We think he may be cutting a tooth but he seems to eat fine at home so I don't know. I was noticing his rice cereal will be out soon so I am going to call the ped tomorrow and ask if we can move him on to oatmeal.

Oh, Canon and I saw Phil & Pamela today, our next door neighbors, and they are expecting a baby in September. It is SO exciting, there will be 3 little ones within a few houses of each other. How fun for Canon! I would laugh if they have a girl. Our other neighbor has a girl and Canon would have his hands full ;0) hee hee

Well goodnight all!

Tuesday & Wednesday

Tuesday

Well I slacked off yesterday. We went out to dinner in Farmington Hills @ a Mexican restaurant called Camelias. I recently reconnected with two of my friends from high school, Stacy and Shannon. We had a great time. They got to meet Canon and I got to meet Stacy's little girl Georgia. She is 11 months and Canon is almost 6. They found each other interesting and were both well behaved ;0) It was SO good to see them. They are doing well for themselves and we had fun reminiscing about old times. I missed Shannon's smile and Stacy's infectious laugh. I hope we can get together more often.

I got to see my friend Crystal's baby boy, Brenden today. I am not sure if I spelled that right, but he is a cutie. He says pretty eyes and beautifully long red hair. He looked so tiny, it's hard to remember that Canon was that tiny only 5 months ago, sniff sniff. I held him and he is just adorable and was fun to watch him smile while drifting off to sleep. I can see why people have lots of babies, that is a nice warm, fun, feeling!

Wednesday

Canon went for a walk at daycare today and he was in a pretty good mood but didn't feel much like eating cereal or the bottle. It looks like he is teething and he acts like it too. We did get him to finish his bottle from 3, another bottle, and his rice cereal, so that was good. We also had him sucking on a teether and he seemed to like that.

While we were playing tonite he grabbed ahold of my hoop earring and actually yanked the whole thing out of my ear - we are telling you - he is a genius and a crafty one ;0)

I am so excited because we are getting his 6 months pictures done this weekend. I also am happy because I am trying to organize my scrapbook/guest room upstairs. I always talk about doing it but I am actually going to try to get up there 3 times a week and spend 15 minutes up there and eventually it will look really nice!

Well goodnight all.

Monday, March 26th

Monday - blech. I hate Mondays. Canon was cranky in the morning at Brooke's. Like mother like son I guess. Bill said Canon was being a goofball this morning. Bill would walk by and Canon would growl at him and then give him a big old smile. I haven't heard him growl yet but I'm sure I will soon :0( He has decided that he likes rice cereal more than milk so sometimes he just doesn't want his bottle, silly little one. I know once he starts eating the real good stuff it should be fun getting him to drink his bottle but we will see.

He was in a grreat mood tonite and that made me happy. We went outside and got the mail together and then got stuff out of my car. We played on the floor together with his gym. He took a nap a little after 6 and then was up by 7. Bill fed him his rice cereal and then we gave him a bath in a bigger tub. It is a ducky that is inflatable and it bigs inside the big tub, it also quacks when you squeeze its bill ;0) hee hee

He loved his bath and new tub and then was being a goofball while we were drying him off. He is such a precious cutie!

I missed him SO much at work today so I am working on downloading new pictures to my digital frame.

Well goodnight all!

Weekend March 23-25

Well the weekend started off to a great start. Friday morning, I locked Canon and myself out of the house and the car. We had to call Justin at work to come pick us up (Joleen was too far away, and I did not feel like walking with Canon in the car seat). Joleen picked both of us up after work... Nice Job, Bill...

We lost our soccer game again on Friday (5-7). I did not score either (came close a few times, though...)

Saturday, we went to Great Grandma Zaske's and visited with Great Grandma, Grandma and Grandpa Zaske and Kayla. Then we went to the Dell store to buy a laptop for the Cookie Jar and Co (Ma Zaske's cookie business - Stay tuned for more info). We have dinner with them and then went home. Canon was such a good little boy all day. He played and slept... He fell asleep at the restaurant, he is a cutie...

Today (Sunday), Grandma and Grandpa came over to visit with Canon, before driving back to Coleman. After that, I went to work for a bit, Joleen and Canon played and slept in the afternoon. In the evening we went over to Uncle Conor and Aunt Beth's for dinner. They love to play with Canon and spoil him. He is a very lucky baby, he has a bunch of people who love him...

Good Night everyone...

Thursday, March 22, 2007

Wednesday and Thursday March 21-22

Wednesday was a parenting group night. We had fun going to Kelly and Scott's home, meeting with the other parents and chatting about what it is like being a Mom and Dad. Canon was awesome, he played, cooed, laughed and was the precious little boy that he always is.

Today (Thursday) was vry warm after I came home from work, we went for a walk around the neighborhood (about a hour), it was really nice to get out of the house. Canon was looking around at everything. I imagine this is what he was thinking:
"Wow, look at that big blue stuff up there... I am going to call it the sky. I think I am going to name everything I see... Those are trees, that is a doggy... squirrels... birds... cars... Boy, Mom and Dad need to learn how to drive this thing... I think I am going to call it a Stroller... I am very cute!"

Have a great evening everyone...

Tuesday, March 20th

It was a typical Tuesday. Joleen had to go back to work today, so of courses she was a little grumpy. But, Canon and I just wished her a good day and sent her on her way this morning. I have been working late again, most of our office is working 50-60 hours a week. We have several major projects that need to be completed before May. So, we are all chipping in to help each other out, it is teamwork...

We found out that Grandma and Grandpa Zaske are coming down this weekend. That will be fun, Canon loves Grandma and Grandpa.

Monday, March 19

I have not been writing the blog lately so Bill said it was my turn to do it. Well I am thoroughly convinced that Canon always has "a case of the Mondays" on Mondays. He was kind of cranky and whiny today but for the most part he was pretty good. We cuddled a lot. He ate, slept, cuddled, and played.

I discovered that Canon likes to play peek-a-boo. It is SO cute. Everytime I said peek-a-boo he would smile and giggle. I LOVE when he giggles. It is so much fun. He is also just chattering a lot and Bill says he is just like his mama in that regard. My mom told me I was like that when I was little.

I am excited because we have parenting group this week and that will be lots of fun. The topic is adjusting to parenthood. If you ask me that is something they should cover right when you come out of the hospital ;0)

Well I must go and do some of the little boy's laundry ;0) Take care all!

Weekend March 17th and18th...

Good Evening everyone... It was St. Patrick's Day this weekend. I hope everyone is recovered from the "fun". To catch you up... Friday night, we lost our soccer game (again), but I scored a goal! That was my first goal of the season... I expect many more, now that I have the taste...

You could definitely tell it was St. Patrick's Day, because the Bar (The Blarney Stone) at the end of street is was packed at 8:30am. Joleen and Lisa, went shopping on Saturday. Canon and I went to Lisa and Mark's house, to watch the basketball games and spend time with the kids (Mark and Lisa have a little girl, Olivia, who is a 1 1/2). It was fun. After the girls came home, we got some pizza and played some cards.

Today, it was our normal Sunday morning, bagels and reading the paper (I read the paper, Joleen looks through the ads). We went shopping at Costco, Canon was doing really well, but then had a bit of a melt-down when he became hungry half-way through the store. Joleen took him over to the food court area and fed him while I waded through the crowds at the checkout. By the time I made it through, Canon was done eating. We started feeding him rice cereal twice a day, today. He loves the rice cereal, he just gobbles it up. Maybe next week, we will try oatmeal.

He is getting bigger and stronger. It still amazes us that the littlest things he can do that he could not just a few weeks ago. He now twists and turns whenever he wants. He laughs out loud and is grabbing everything he sees (note to the women in the audience: Do not wear nice jewelry around Canon...). I can only imagine what he will be like in another couple of months (yes, that Mensa van still rolls by the house...)

Have a wonderful evening everyone.

Thursday & Friday, March 15-16

Thursday

Not much new today just getting through Thursday so Friday and the weekend can come! While giving Canon a bath we are learning that his bathtub is not so good for him now that he is older. We are looking into another solution because we want him to be comfortable during bathtime. He is also learning to splash a little, it is pretty cute. I went to Target and found some more cute clothes for him. I really must stop and I am trying...

Friday

Today I got to spend a lot of time in the lab and quite a bit of time training with Frank. I also got the okay that I can move into my new cube so I started to move stuff in this afternoon. I was kind of sad but I am sure I will get over it. My biggest challenge right now will be figuring out how to get my fridge into my new cube!

Canon had kind of a cranky day at daycare so when I brought him home we didn't play much and Bill put him in his crib so he could take a nap and he was in a good mood when he woke up. He didn't blow many raspberries today though.

Bill has another soccer game tonite. I hope they do well. I will be sure to post the score tomorrow. Tomorrow I am going shopping with my friend Lisa so I can't wait. I may even buy some mommy clothes, what a concept. I noticed that Canon's wardrobe is must more extensive than mine and he is pretty set and I need to look at mine now!

Good night all!

Wednesday, March 14

1/2 way through the week - yee haw!!!!! I have made progress in my baby clothes addiction! My friend asked me to go to Carter's today and I turned her down. I need to spend my Carter's cheques but I want to go to the one by my house. We need bibs since the little guy is eating rice cereal now! He really likes it and always finishes all of it! It is SO fun watching him eat and feeding him!

His new trick is blowing raspberries. It is SO cute! He was so chatty tonite and kept doing the raspberries noise. He was in a good mood so we had a good time after work.

He also it starting to like his jumperoo so that is fun to watch too. He has had good days at daycare all week and has been going on walks there. The rice cereal seems to be agreeing with him too because he has had dirty diapers (6 a day). What a little pooper ;0)

Well I must get ready for bed now, good night.

Tuesday, March 12

Day number 2, of the rice cereal. Canon really likes tbe rice cereal, he eats 5-6 spoonfuls and does not seem to mind the taste. He was a little cranky this afternoon, Joleen gets mad at me because as soon as Canon sees me in the evenings, he stops crying and starts to smile. He is such a little cutey...

Work is going well... Joleen is learning her new job. All and all things are going very well.

Have a good evening.

Sunday, March 11

What a fun weekend! Yesterday I went to a mom2mom sale with my new friend Sam. These sales are kind of ruthless. There were women lined up outside the door and they will mow you down to get to the big ticket items - yikes! For those of you who don't know what they are it is a bunch of moms that rent tables and sell their kids toys and clothes. The big ticket items are baby things like cribs and strollers and little kitchens and other fun stuff.

It is funny our new friends our Sam and Chris and my parents have friends named Sam and Chris but our genders are switched ;0) Anyway Sam and I are there for like 10 minutes and I had to call Bill because I found a huge tugboat sandbox with cover for $25. We thought we would be able to fit it into Sam's jeep but we were wrong so I called Bill and he brought the trailblazer with the trailer behind it so Sam & I could stay and do some more shopping. I bought a couple of cute things too.

When I got home we then went to Great Lakes Crossing and took a few things back to Carters and bought some summer clothes. I think I need to take inventory and may need to take some back. That seems to happen to Bill & I. We sometimes buy a lot of clothes and then realize we went overboard. I know, surprise, surprise! We then went to The Baby's Room and picked up the rails for Canon's convertible crib. They have been waiting for us to pick them up for 3 months now. After that we went to Babies R Us and looked at umbrella strollers but we decided the stroller we have should work for what we need. We big run into Brooke and her sister (my bud) Sarah. Poor Sarah was registering and was feeling a bit overwhelmed, boy do we remember what that was like. We also helped another couple figure out the stroller they were looking at (same as ours) by showing them how easy it was to break down and how easy it is to get Canon in and out. They were so greatful to us. We did buy a hook-on highchair. It is the same one Ian has and he seems to love it so we got it for the Grandmas houses and restaurants. We also got some cute Detroit Tigers gear for the little man. We had lots of fun!

Today Bill did demo in the basement. He tore down all the ceiling tile and put it in bags. It was like 4 or 5 huge bags full. He also cleaned up down there and moved the furniture out of the way. We picked our carpeting tile last week and we just need to see if any reps can get us a better deal than having to pay shipping.

We also took a walk around the neighborhood. Canon LOVED it. He LOVES walks! When we got back we gave him rice cereal! We got all psyched up for it and he was really good...

It is Bill's turn to throw his spin on the rice cereal:
So, there we were sitting in the Dining Room ( I know big surprise, we ate at the table). Canon was sitting in his Baby Tenda (a really expensive eating table thingy, that we just had to have). I am sure he is thinking:

"...Why are Mom and Dad sitting next to me? What is Dad mixing 'my milk' with? Why is Mom taking pictures with that huge camera? That is an interesting bowl, it is green and I sure it resembles a frog (although I do not know what a frog is). Mom is putting this odd towel around my neck. Wait a minute, Dad gave Mom the bowl and he took the camera. Mom is feeding me something. It tastes sort of like milk, but with a weird texture. What is this stuff..."

That is when he turned and looked at Joleen with the look of, what was that? He ate a few more spoonfuls, much more than we had planned on. He did soooo well. He went to bed tonight without a fuss. He is such a good little boy.

Have a great evening everyone!!

Friday, March 9th

Canon is 5 months today! sniff sniff. He is growing up so fast. He had another good day at daycare. It was funny Brooke called me today to tell me how cute he looked in his outfit and then a couple hours later he pooped through it :0( He was all smiling and laughing about it too. That's our Canon.

It was such a nice day down here that Brooke bundled up the kids and took them out for a walk and I guess Canon really liked that. I think we will try to take some walks this weekend too.

Bill is at a soccer game. They tied last time so maybe this time they will win by one ;0)

Good night all. This is a short entry because I'm tired.

Thursday, March 8

Today was a good day at daycare for Canon today. He took a nap in the morning and then one in the afternoon. Brooke said he was spitting up a lot and coughing. He didn't spit up tonite at all but he was coughing. We got some Johnson & Johnson vapor bath last weekend so we drew up a bath and put that in it and it seemed to help the little guy.

He fell aslep around 8 so Bill swaddled him and put him in his crib and he went to sleep. He loves to be swaddled. He looks up at you and smiles because he knows its bedtime ;0)

Well nothing else to say really. Good night all.

Wednesday, March 7th

Today started pretty early for the Zaske's. I had to be at work at 7:00 in order to get to Schoolcraft by 8:00, the roads were a mess, thanks to a March winter storm. Canon was good little boy for Daddy, this morning.

Work is pretty crazy right now. I have lots of balls to juggle. Comerica announiced yesterday that they are moving it's HQ to Dallas, Tx. Not to worry though (Grandmoms), Joleen's job is not moving to Texas (not yet anyways).

We had our parenting group tonight. It was fun, we learn about feeding Canon, what to start out with and what not to feed him right away. It was at Sam and Chris' home here in Berkley. They are a very nice couple with their little one Alex. They also ride motorcycles...

Have a great evening!
-Bill

Tuesday, March 6

So there was a HUGE announcement at Comerica today. It only affects corporate not I.S. which is where I am but apparently we are moving our corporate headquarters to Dallas, TX. There will be 200 people moving there over the next 3 years. We believe this is happening to head off any banks that may try to purchase us. Our stock is at a reasonable price right now and that concerns us. Another fact is that Michigan isn't growing anymore and we need to distance ourself from the auto industry. We already lost when Kmart went under so we are trying to prevent that with any auto companies.

I guess today was another rough day for Canon. He gets so cranky sometimes. I guess he liked the exersaucer Brooke put him in for about 10 minutes and then he was done with that. He slept a total of 20 minutes today and then came home tonite and took about a 2 hr nap. After his nap he was all fun and games ;0) We think that we will try rice cereal with him this weekend and will get out his feeding table this week to get him used to it. I think we are already having a tough time with this HUGE milestone. We keep putting it off ;0) Oh well.

I was holding Canon tonite and OMG I started to feel something warm and wet, at first I thought it was drool but I was SO wrong, he PEED ON ME! I thought it was poo so that would have been worse but he got me all wet and the couch, silly boy. He smiled, sometimes I think he plans these things.... :0)

Well I must do some chores before bed so goodnight all!

Monday, March 5, 2007

Monday, March 5

So I spent all day with Canon today. He picked today to have a growth spurt. He played in his gym a lot this morning and took a nap from 9-10:30. He pretty much played in his gym all day practicing his new trick (rolling over). He did to the right and to the left and is very close to doing from back to tummy. He also ate a lot and then slept.

He has been a handful tonite though. He keeps waking up and Bill and I keep cuddling him and putting him back to bed. We think he has some burps that he can't get out - poor little guy.

Not much else to blog about. Good Night All!

Sunday, March 4, 2007

Sunday, March 4th

Here I sit after cleaning up the kitchen and putting in a load of laundry while my boys sleep. Bill went to bed early because he wasn't feeling well. I am staying up because I have a few "important" things to do before I go to bed ;0)

I went to Target today to get diapers, wipes, snacks - stuff like that. I also was trying to exchange some baby clothes at Old Navy but that didn't work out well. I then went to Kohls and found like 5 pairs of pants for like $10, I was SO happy. Canon has tons of onesies but not a lot of pants. He seems to be having at least one if not two blowouts a day so I don't think we can have too many clothes!

I guess while I was gone, Canon rolled over! He rolled over from his tummy onto his back. Bill was afraid to tell me but I am glad. I hope he does more of it tomorrow. He is now practicing rolling from back to stomach. He is a determined little guy and so much fun. He loves to play with his gym now. He grabs the monkey and the pineapple guy and likes to chew on them. He seems to be putting everything in his mouth these days. We tried the jumperoo again and he made it move a couple of times but he is still unsure about it.

Well I should go ;0)

Saturday, March 3, 2007

Saturday, March 3rd

Canon has been kind of a crank today but he let us sleep until 7 so we were happy about that! Canon played with his gym today and kept putting the monkey in his mouth. He is starting to grab things and put everything into his mouth. He has this giraffe that is on his bouncer but can be taken off that he loves to chew on and play with. We even took it to the game last night. He really likes it. I think his favorite color is yellow. His current favorites are the giraffe and a stuffed duck that quacks.

Bill & Conor went to the gym in the morning and Beth and I watched Canon. When they got back Beth & I went and ran into the worst traffic jam around the zoo. We didn't know what was going on and we didn't move for 30 minutes. Once we got to the gym a lady told us they were having a job fair. It was a perfect example of how bad Michigan's economy is!

When we got back Conor had made breakfast burritos, YUMMY! Bill and I didn't think we had the ingredients but Conor looked in the fridge and said you sure do so he whipped some up. We have the best friends. They love to hang out with us and Canon.

Well good night I am going to spend time with my boys!

Friday, March 2nd

I was SO glad today was Friday. Canon had another good day at daycare. We have to keep track cuz it is sometimes rare.

Well I finished cleaning out my cube. It is amazing what you accumulate after 8 years in one spot! It felt so liberating!

We went to Bill's soccer game, a new season has started. They tied 5-5. Everyone was SO proud! I met Kevin and his fiancee Erica and they were really nice. They are going to get married in Hawaii so I was telling her all about our honeymoon. 7 years ago, sniff sniff. Beth & Conor came to the game also and got their Canon fix and got to see Bill play.

After the game we got some chicken nuggets and shamrock milkshakes. Yes, they are out everyone! WOO HOO! Bring on March!

Thursday, March 1st

Canon had another good day at daycare. Hooray! I think he did poop through his outfit which is the usual for him. The one day he went through 2 outfits, he had to borrow one of Ian's sweatshirt jackets! Good thing Brooke has a little one!

Uncle Joe stayed the night on Wednesday and he was there when we got home on Thursday so it was nice to see him. He hadn't seen Canon since Christmas and couldn't believe how much bigger he was and how much more he looks like Bill. We introduced Joe to Potbellys that night, and he really liked it.

Bill also got his new phone that work is paying for so it makes it even more cool. It has a camera, keypad, internet enabled, syncs up to email and just about does anything. It is cool and Joe was jealous cuz he thought his phone was it until he saw Bill's ;0)

Weekend Catch-Up

Friday

Canon and I went to watch Bill play soccer on Friday. It was the last game for until the next season which starts this Friday. Canon had lots of fun watching everyone. They lost 3-1. They keep losing by less every time. I had fun talking to Auga and watching her rein in her 3 boys. We talked about our babies and our pregnancies and how much we love Beaumont!

Saturday

We went up north this weekend so I am behind on everything. We stopped at Einsteins for breakfast and hauled the desk up north for Bill's mom. The trailer pulled great, I couldn't even tell we had one behind us. I went shopping with Bill's mom, 2 sisters, and cousin Vonnie on Saturday to some craft stores in Saginaw. I ordered quilt racks for Canon's room and bought some little tart candles and a couple very small Easter decorations. Bill watched Canon and hung out with his dad. It was nice to see the whole Zaske family on Saturday and for them to get to spend time with us and Canon. He slept like a good little boy too.

Sunday

We went to my parent's house on Sunday. We showed up around 10 and stayed until 5. We played with Canon, chatted, ate, and napped. We had a nice time. When we left we had to drive through yucky weather. Gladwin county roads were not bad but as soon as we got into Standish (Bay Arenac) the roads stunk. It took us 3-3.5 hours to get home but I am sure it could have been worse ;0)

When we got home we gave Canon a bath. He loves his baths and we love giving them to him. We decided to put his tub in the big tub so we wouldn't have water all over. It worked out nice. After his bath we wrapped him in a towel and turned on the shower to create some steam to help with his cold. Then we put him in his pjs and swaddled him and he went to sleep for the night.

Monday

A 5 day work week - blech! I CHERISH my AWS days! I can't wait till next Monday because I will get to hang out with my little baby boy! I guess today was a bad day at daycare. It seems like every Monday is a bad day at daycare and is usually challenging for me too. I think Canon doesn't like Mondays or mornings ;0) I guess he does have some of me in him. He took a nap as soon as we got home and then slept off and on until bedtime.

Tuesday

Today was a good day at daycare for Canon. Brooke decided to lay him down for a nap at around 11:30 and then he slept for a couple hours. He was very happy when he woke up. He then took a nap when he got home and slept off and on until bedtime.

I turned over all of my projects and finished up my production support and started reading the manual for my new application.

Wednesday

Today was another good daycare day for Canon. Same naptime as yesterday. He went through 2 outfits at daycare today too. I guess I need to pack more for him. Uncle Joe was at the house when we got home. Canon was all smiles and had fun hanging out with his uncle. We even thought he might roll over but he decided he was hungry and tired. We ate Potbellys for dinner and then we put Canon in his pjs and swaddled him and put him down to bed.

I started training a little today on my new application. Frank likes to say that I am "chomping at the bit" to learn. I guess I am. I completed one training course today so I am now familiar with how the screens work.

Well good night everyone. Hopefully as the week goes on the blog gets more exciting!

Thursday, February 22

What a tough week, hee hee, 3 day week for me. Today seemed so long though since one of our projects moved from no activity to priority one. I turn over my projects on Tuesday so I can not wait to get rid of the old and bring on the new!

Canon slept for a total of 2 hrs at daycare today. Brooke has him doing about 20 minutes of tummy time, no wonder he's cranky at daycare ;0) Wink, wink, its better he scowl at her than us. He was smiling and cooing to Mickey today and then he ate, slept a little, ate some more and went to sleep.

I am watching Grays right now. It was a weird but good one. Tomorrow Bill has a game at 7:05 so Canon and I will be going. It should be fun.

Bill finished up his trailer and is ready to haul the desk up north on Saturday ;0) We are going to take some stuff to the Salvation Army next weekend and then we can start working on the basement.

Chow for now!

Wednesday, February 21

It is Hump Day again. Canon, Joleen and I had our parenting group again tonight. We learned infant massage, it was fun. We got him all rubbed down from his feet to his back. Although, to massage his back, we had to put him on his tummy. He hates tummy time!! But, he needs to get used to things he hates.

I love my new watch it is the coolest watch in the world. Seriously, I do not think any one's watch can compare. Yesterday, we went to the financial guy, to have him look into our portfolio, he said that we do not really have a portfolio yet... But he gave us some helpful advice.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Tuesday, February 20, 2007

Tuesday, February 20

I had today off too. Canon was a little cranky this morning but nothing like yesterday. We ate, slept, and played all day. It was a nice day. He is starting to play with the animals on his bouncer so that is fun to watch. He will grab and pull the elephant and the giraffe. He has also started playing "shy boy" with us. I was holding him when Bill came home from lunch and when Bill would smile at him Canon would turn his head and smile into me. He is SO much fun.

He also was giggling when he was sleeping on me today, it was so cute. He just does the cutest things.

Bill wrote: I started to install the floor on my utility trailer today. I am using 2x8 pressure treated wood, which I purchased at my favorite hardware and lumber yard, Durst Ace Hardware at the end of my street. If your ever in Berkley, you should stop by Durst, they had a stuffed Polar Bear in a case in the entry vestibule. I hope to finish the floor up this week and deliver Mom her desk for the Cookie Jar and Co.

Have a wonderful evening Everyone!!

Monday, February 19

Happy Birthday Bill and the presidents. I had today off because the bank had it off so I got to spend it with Canon. He was a MAJOR crank this morning but was an angel this afternoon. I am not a morning person either.

We ate, slept, and played a little bit today. He is still SO close to rolling over. We keep practicing it. He even let me take a shower and we went to Westborn (fruit/meat market). I pushed him in the stroller and kept a basket on my arm to do some light shopping. We had to pick out birthday cake and brownies for Bill. I was SO happy that he was a good little boy.

Bill got an Einstein gift card from Canon for those early mornings he gets him up, that way he can get some coffee to get through the day ;0) I got him a crazy watch he wanted from Tokyo and a nice blue polo shirt. He said it was a good birthday.

Goodnight all!

Sunday, February 18, 2007

Sunday, February

More shopping for me. I had to exchange some very expensive boots Bill bought me so I went to DSW returned my boots and did not look at any shoes at all! I'm making progress, nevermind that I had already bought 2 pairs at Kohls - oops ;0)

I took back some girlie outfits Canon had and got him some more 6 months warm clothes and I got great deals on them ;0) I then hightailed it to Carters to take some stuff back and realized they didn't open till noon - HOW SILLY!!! I was SO sad but I went to Panera and picked up lunch and got over my sadness ;0)

Canon was a cranky boy this afternoon. He was rubbing his eyes but wouldn't go to sleep so that was fun :0( He still hasn't rolled over yet, we keep waiting. Oh well it will happen soon.

Tomorrow is Bill's birthday so that will be fun for him and no more hiding presents for me ;0)

Take care all!

Saturday, February 17

Today I went shopping to Gymboree with Lisa and Sarah. We had a great time and I got lots of clothes for Canon. I got some stuff that is from 12-18 and some stuff for summer. We also went to Pottery Barn for kids and I got him a cute duck that is a puppet that quacks London Bridges and Old MacDonald. He likes it, I think he likes ducks :0) Go figure there are plenty in our house ;0)

Bill said Canon was a good little guy and they had a fun day together. Bill then went out to Home Depot and Target and checked out stuff for the basement and bought some baby supplies at Target. He is such a great husband and dad.

We can't wait until it gets warmer and then the whole family can go places together ;0)

Friday, February 16, 2007

Friday, February 16

Canon had his 4 months shots today. He was such a tough little guy. He didn't cry at all when they did his right hip but he did on the left but the nurse said that was common. He then had to take one orally and he did NOT like that but we chased it with a bottle so he was fine with that.

He weighs 13lbs14oz now and is 25 inches long! The nurse said that his last measurement was wrong so we were relieved to hear that!

We brought him home and fell asleep in his car seat so we let him sleep there and he wakes up to eat and then goes right back to sleep. He is usually a tired little guy after shots so he will probably sleep all weekend. He was so funny before his shots he was babbling to everyone and scooching all over the table and even tried to roll right off! Little pistol, we keep waiting for him to roll over and he tries to do it at the drs to catch us off guard!

Well Bill is at a soccer game so we will see how they do this time. He is signing up for the next session too ;0)

Thursday, February 15

I went to work today and found out that my effective date for my new job is February 23rd. That is very soon! Yee haw!

Canon was a pretty good boy at daycare today. I guess he had a rough morning but he had to share Brooke with Ian today and he (Canon) likes to be the center of attention so... He had a good afternoon and Ian and him were both being held sitting on Brooke's lap. It was pretty cute.

When I brought Canon home he was quiet in the car and kept looking out the window. We came inside and he sat and chatted in his swing and played on the floor. He is SO close to rolling over, I keep waiting for him to. I say any day now. Then he got hungry and ate and then took an 1.5 hr nap before daddy got home.

My boys are now sleeping so I will say good night too!

Wednesday, February 14, 2007

Wednesday, February 14th

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

We had some snow last night, about 6 inches. Joleen decided to work from home today and then we found out that Ian was under-the-weather so Canon stayed home with her. He was a good little boy most of the day, but Joleen needed somebody to distract Canon. So, she called in the calvary, Aunt Beth. Aunt Beth came over and watched Canon for a while, which allowed Joleen to get work done.

For Valentine's Day Canon gave Mom her favorite brownies, Westborn's Killer Peanut Butter Browies. Canon gave me an Itunes gift card. What a thoughtful little boy!

Everyone have a happy Valentine's Day!!!

Monday, February 12

Wow, I have to work another full week - poo! Oh well, now I know how everyone else feels. It was a pretty productive day. I did get a phone call from Brooke and she asked if Canon was cranky all weekend too and I said yeah a little. I hate calls like that because it makes me want to go pick him up and just cuddle with him and try to make him stop crying. sniff sniff

When I picked him up he was pretty happy. I talked to him on the drive home and he liked that. He loves when you talk and sing to him. When we got home he played in his swing and then we walked around the house and looked at things and then I warmed up his bottle. He took about half of it and then went to sleep on me for about an hour and a half and then Bill came home. I gave him his bottle and then we played with him some more. We then swaddled him up and turned on his aquarium and put him in his crib. Once again he is such a good little boy :0)

Good night all.

Sunday, February 11

Another lazy Sunday. Bill went into work and I stayed home with Canon. I have been reading the shopaholic series and he let me start the 3rd in the series while he napped on me for a couple of hours. He is such a good little boy. We are SO lucky to have him ;0) Even when people see he's cranky Canon we are still lucky ;0)

I didn't go out shopping to Target like I do every other Sunday. I decided to stay away and save money and went to Westborn and got dinner and some fruit instead.

All in all it was a nice relaxing weekend!

Saturday, February 10, 2007

Saturday, February 10, 2007

A very nice lazy Saturday. Canon woke around 7:30am and drank a bottle and then went back to sleep until 11:00am then wanted another bottle. He was a good little boy.

Conor's parents are in town and stopped by to visit (along with Conor and Beth). It is always nice to see Ma and Pa Draves. They played with Canon for a little while and then he fell back to sleep.

Canon played with his gym and was being super cute. We gave him a bath tonight, he finished up his last bottle and is now sleeping (most likely for the night).

Have a great evening everyone.

Friday, February 9, 2007

Friday

I had to work late today - poo poo! I didn't get to pick up the little guy today :0( I got home and the family went over to Beth & Conor's and then we went and ate Chinese. Yum, yum. Canon seemed kind of interested in it too. This is the second Chinese restaurant he's been too. He was pretty good too considering it was close to his bedtime.

HE IS 4 MONTHS TODAY! sniff sniff. He's getting so big! I took some pictures of him today too so we will be posting some newer ones soon.

Bill is at soccer. We will see how they do this week. I think I am going to finish today's blog and maybe do some baby shopping online @ Old Navy and then read my book. My sis-in-law (Katie) lent me the shopaholic series of book more than a year ago and I am into the second one and I really like them so I am a bit addicted.

Toodles!

Well it is Thursday. Canon is doing very well today. It was is buddy Ian's birthday today. Canon watched Ian play with his presents. Some day he will be big enough to play with Ian's toy too.

We are very happy about Joleen's new position, it is a great opportunity for her. She is excited and a little nervous. But, Canon and I know she can handle it.

Our first parenting group was fun. Canon met a bunch of kids that are abot his age. He seemed very interested in the little ladies. He is sleeping right now, he is adorable when he sleeps.

Have a great night...

Wednesday, February 7

So, here is the big news. I got a promotion and I am moving to another group within the bank!! I will actually be doing what I went to school for - programming! Crazy huh. It was announced in our big meeting today. The position is on the Retail side of the bank and will be working for John Leggett (for those Comerica people reading). I interviewed last Tuesday and received an offer yesterday. I think I will be moving in about a month - woo hoo! I also get to work with my buds Barry & Frank!

So Canon has been given a nickname at daycare. It is "Cranky Canon". I hope it doesn't stick too long, poor little guy gets so cranky when he needs sleep - I think he is like his mom that way ;0) By the way our daycare provider, Brooke, is having another boy in June! How fun, 3 little boys to hang around and get into trouble with (hee hee).

We went to our parenting group tonite. It was SO fun. We met people in our neighborhood with babies that were born around the same time as Canon. It was so neat to see all kinds of different babies and to see and hear what they are into and what they are doing. It was a pretty even number of boys and girls so that was neat too. Some of them even went to the same obs as me!

Adios!
