Friday
Beth & Conor came over on Friday and we had fruit salad, Caesar salad, au gratin potatoes, and steak for dinner and it was delicious. They played with Canon and gave him his present from Greece and us. They brought back a glass “eye”. It is good luck in Greece and many people hang them in their homes so I hung it on Canon’s dresser. I’m sure he’ll like to stare at it soon too. They brought me back chocolate and Bill back worry beads. He is going to take them to work so he can use them when he worries. I think it’s an excellent idea, maybe it will save some fingernails ;0)
Saturday
I went to 2 mom2mom sales with my friend Sam this weekend and got some things. It is SO fun to go to those; you never know what you might pick up. I took Canon and he was pretty good most of the time. I bought this bottle thing that is like a nipple with a long tube that goes to the bottle so my pampered (not holding the bottle yet) little boy can eat when its hard to feed him on the go. What does he go and do, he pulls the tube right off and I am like are you kidding me. The kid is a genius. I put it back on and we got through most of the bottle so I was pretty happy. Alex (Sam’s little b0y) was so quiet the whole time. Canon is quite a talker and flirt, kind of like his parents. The acorn doesn’t fall too far from the tree I guess.
I then went to my teeth cleaning and chatted with my hygienist about my baby and her new baby and it was actually a nice visit to the dentist because we chatted so much. I also got to show off Canon’s 6 month pictures. I then went and picked Canon up so Bill & Mickey could demo some BMWs since our friend Chris told them about it. They had fun. They came home and then got the bike out and put together Bill’s parts washer that he got in February and had fun hanging out. Canon and I hung out inside and had a nice time.
Sunday – My first Mother’s Day! May 13th
I think one of the coolest things about being a mom is being part of the mom club. There are a lot of us out there and we can always relate to each other in some way. I was at the DIA and one of the ladies said “Happy Mothers Day” to me and thought it was SO cool that it was my first.
We went to the DIA to see the Ansel Adams exhibit and took Canon. He was pretty good, you can only ask him to stay in his stroller for so long so I carried him some but Bill carried him the rest of the time. It was a really cool exhibit. I saw a picture that I love that I had never seen before so I bought a postcard of it and then I bought a postcard of a sculpture outside the DIA for Canon’s book to record his first visit.
Canon got me a card that was perfect. I love it! He also got me sterling silver beaded earrings and a sterling silver beaded name bracelet. Canon is the name on it of course. It has a heart toggle closure that is so sweet too. I will wear it often and think of my precious little boy.
Monday – My day off
Canon slept on me most of the morning and then let me hold him and play with him the rest. He actually let me pick up the bedroom so that was nice. I laid him in the middle of the bed and put pillows on both sides in case he decided to explore but he really didn’t. He practiced sitting and tummy time and he was content with that.
Beth & Conor & Mickey came over to help Bill with some car work on the Taurus and Beth played with Canon so I was able to get his laundry folded and put away so that was SO nice of her to do.
Well I must go. I will try to update more! Take care everyone!

And We're Back.....
Oh my goodness it has been too long! Let me say how sorry I am to you faithful blog readers. Life has been passing us by lately. Bill has been trying to recover from his torn ham string. He went to the dr. and she confirmed that he definitely hurt himself and to take it easy for 4-6 weeks. He has been wrapping it with ace bandages and watching it slowly creep down his leg. It is actually looking much better and believe me it was really nasty in the beginning and hurt a lot.
Our brother-in-law Kevin had another stint put in and he is home from the hospital and doing well. He was there for only a day and a half ;0)
Canon is recovering wonderfully from his surgery as well. Its hard to believe that its only been a month and he is still ready and raring to go.
Beth & Conor went to Greece and are back ;0) We missed them terribly and they missed Canon too. They have been over a couple of times since they got back to see him. Susie & Dan have also watched Canon and enjoy spending time with him as well. It is SO great to have such wonderful friends and babysitters ;0) wink wink!
My friends Barry & Sarah had their baby on May 4th. He was 5 weeks early and weighed 5 lbs 15 ½ ozs so he would have been big had he gone until June 4th. He had to stay in the hospital because he was having some breathing issues but he gets to come home today in fact ;0)
Bill has taken the past 2 Fridays off to spend with Canon because we have had daycare issues but they always have fun together so he doesn’t mind too much!
CANON’S BIG NEWS! HE HAS A TOOTH! Bill discovered it on Friday (May 11th ;0) It is really sharp too! I was SO proud and still am. Pretty soon he'll be getting more chompers too!
He is turning on the aquarium in his crib now and crawling around in the crib and ending up in all kinds of strange positions. It is fun to watch him but not at 2 in the morning, which has been his preference lately ;0)
He doesn’t like to be left alone in his gym anymore. Whenever Bill or I leave the room he cries and gets upset until we come back in!
He has been through all of the vegetables in stage 1 so we are moving on to bananas and pears next ;0) I was hesitant about fruit but I am sure he will eat fruit or veggies with no problem because there hasn’t been anything he hasn’t liked yet!
There is talk of us moving to Austin TX in the future but on a scale of 1-10 I am at a 1 and Bill is at a 3 so time will tell. We will do what is best for the family and Bill’s career and I will do whatever. Maybe I could stay home with Canon….

Thursday, May 3rd
Tonight was our first official softball game. DSA vs. BEI. We beat them 18-12. We won!! But, there is a down side... I was sprinting from 2nd to 3rd, (I was moving so fast that everything else around me started to slow down, I think I just proved Einstein's speed of light theories are correct...) then I felt a "pop" in the back of my leg... At that point I hobbled to 3rd (safe of course). I pulled (according to Trent, I may have tore) my hamstring. Since I never have really have injuried myself like this before, it was not fun. It did not hurt so much when I walked around, but bending, stretching that sucks.
Canon and Joleen came to the game. Joleen spent most of the game worried about foul balls. Seriously, there were a couple of balls hit in their general direction, but nothing terribily close. It got a little chilly towards the end of the game, Joleen and Canon were very cute all cuddled up in a blanket. She was cussing the field location, because she couldn't just pull the car up to the field and watch the game (like at Joe's track meets in High School).

Wednesday, May 2nd
Today was parent group night. Unfortunately, I had to go to a meeting at Cranbrook until 8:30 pm, which meant that I missed most of group (actually all of the group activities). I got there just in time to help Joleen pack up Canon and leave. But, I understand that Canon was the life of the party. He was showing everyone his "no" nod, and his scooching exercises. He also sat up on his own for the first time (only for a few seconds, but that still counts).

Tuesday, April 24th
Today I went to Jo-anns at lunch because I needed frames for Canon's 6 months pictures. I bought Bill a new frame for Canon's 5 x 7. It is a nice black one that is "daddy appropriate". I bought another one for my desk too because when I flip months on my calendar I need to put Canon's pictures somewhere ;0) My cube at work is like a personal shrine to Canon. It is crazy. I can't remember anything else that was signficant today.
Wednesday, April 25th
Canon had his surgical follow-up appt today and the doctor said everything looks great. He wants to see him in another month though so I won't be convinced until then!
Canon decided to roll from his back to his tummy and back today. I of course missed it because I was in the kitchen for a second but oh well he'll do it again.
We had a good day today so we decided to go out to Pasquales and just celebrate our good day. Canon behaved so well. Everyone in the restaurant fawned over him. He flirted with all of the waitresses and then played with his highchair suction toy. I highly recommend that everyone have at least one of these toys. They stick to the table so they don't get thrown on the nasty floor at restaurants and stuff. He then fell asleep when our dinner came so we got to eat and talk. It was really nice.
Thursday, April 26th
I had a meltdown in the morning because I couldn't find a shirt to wear. All of my shirts seem to be too short after baby. I know why too! I hope when I am done nursing that they fit again because I have a lot of shirts that I can not wear right now. My pants I seem to be slowly getting back into but not the shirts. Anyways it wasn't a good morning.
Bill didn't have softball today since it rained all day. He told me to go out and buy some new clothes. I went out to Kohls and returned some things and bought like 5 shirts and a pair of jeans and then 2 dress shirts for Bill and I got Kohls cash so I felt better. I was back by 8:30 to help with Canon's bath and the nightime ritual and I was so happy that I had a deadline otherwise I would have wandered too much!
Friday, April 27th
Today was Canon's 6 month well baby visit. He weighed 15 lbs, 12.5 ozs and is 26 inches long. He is in the 25-50 percentile so he is doing well. He also got another set of shots so that was tough for him! I stopped at Potbelly's on my way home for dinner and then Bill & I ate and Canon slept. We were going to go Bill's last soccer game with him but Canon was still sleeping when Bill had to leave so we just stayed home. I vegged while Canon slept and I think he slept until like 3 am or something.
Saturday, April 28th
We got on the road at a little before 9 and decided to keep Canon in his sleeper because he was still sleeping and then snuck him in his carseat and were off on our way up north. We dropped the Taurus off at AHOC so I could just have Bill drop me off for the shower on Sunday. I then drove us all the way up north. Canon woke up a little before Flint and was kind of like "where am I" but he was fine and just looked out the window and babbled.
We got to Bill's parents around 11 and then went down to Great Aunt Joyces for the surprise 90th birthday party for Canon's great grandma Brugger. I think he was the life of the party. Everyone asked all about him and wanted to hold him and coo at him. He thought it was great fun and took a few naps during the day but not many. It was nice to see family and old friends so we had a good time.
We went to see my parents at dinner at 6 and got done around 8. We made sure Canon saw both sets of grandparents and everyone got to hold him. We gave everyone their pictures and I printed out a lot of snapshots and put them in albums and I told everyone to take any pictures they wanted from there too. I accidentally duplicated or triplicated my order so I need to pay attention to that next time I order pictures!
We brought Canon's gym up north so he played in that a lot and entertained everyone. He was rolling all over and getting stuck and frustrated so it was pretty fun to watch! We helped him when he reached his frustration point but most of the time let him figure it out on his own. When he wasn't playing he was being held or sleeping or sleeping while being held! That seems to be his favorite. Grandpa Z. has his jiggling/bouncing motion he does when he holds Canon and it always puts him right to sleep. It's a pretty cute trick!
Sunday, April 29th
We left up north around 10:45 and got to AHOC around 12:40 and then I went to Barry & Sarah's shower. It was really nice and fun. It was at Mongolian BBQ so the food was EXCELLENT! I love Mongo! I ate there all the time when I was pregnant! They got a lot of nice stuff and I stayed after to help load and clean up.
The shower was 2 hrs and then I stopped at Carters on my way home because I had a 20% off coupon I needed to use. I wanted to get some plain 9 months onesies but they had shipped theirs back due to quality reasons so I was not able to get them. I did find a bib, pants, and a onesie all 70% off that I used my coupon on and paid under $10 total, so I thought that was good. I bought it in 12 months since we have a lot of summer stuff! I then came home and hung out with Canon while Bill did some outdoor stuff.
Canon & I decided to go outside and say hi to our neighbors. Phil was outside and so was his dog, Bernie so he was checking Canon out and then I went inside to get shoes on to go over there so they could visit with Canon and they had walked over and were talking to Bill so I chatted with them. They are almost halfway through their pregnancy and their big ultrasound is this week so they are excited. We told them to ask us any questions they may have. We then took Canon over to meet Paul & Patty, our neighbors across the street so he was socializing lots today!
We gave Canon carrots for the first time today and he seemed to like them so that is good. We are going to be onto green beans next Sunday and then peas and all kinds of other fun veggies!
We gave Canon a bath and I packed away some clothes and brought out some new ones and that was pretty much our day.
Monday, April 30th
I got to spend most of the day with Canon. I had a drs appt at 11 that I had to fast for so the morning was a bit tough for me! Bill dressed him in the cutest outfit that I had not even got the chance to see him in yet and it was a 6 months so I was happy when I came back from the dr and saw that it fit him fine.
Canon was kind of cranky today and wanted to be held while he slept so that was pretty much our morning. I think he is teething and also hasn't had a bowel movement for like a day so I don't think that's helping things! Sometime during the day I put him in his gym to play and he rolled from back to tummy, grabbed his taggy blanket and then rolled back onto his back and chewed on his blanket. I was fascinated, I think (we think) he is a genious! He seems to be rolling more and scooting more so I think crawling may be coming soon. We need to start baby proofing to prepare for that.
He is not holding his bottle with his hands yet and that will be nice when he does but he actually took the bottle out of his mouth yesterday using his two feet! He then tried to put it back in using his feet. I cracked up, he is quite flexible!
