Today was hump day. Canon was having a rough last couple of days. He is very close to rolling over and I think that frustrates him. He is also is a little cranky. Poor little guy. He is sleeping for about 8-10 hours a night now a days, which is a wonderiful treat for Joleen and I. He wakes up in the morning with a smile. It is very funny to hear him in the mornings, he is usually chewing on his fingers, drooling all over the place. When we walk in the room and turn on the lights he looks up and smiles... It melts my heart...

Joleen recieved some good news today, but can not officially say anything until the end of the week. I have been putting in some longer days at work lately, I am trying to catch up a little bit. It is a bit of a struggle, because the more I get done the more I find to do.

It looks like Canon has a "case of the Mondays". Brooke said that he had a rough day, today. He still has a cough and is stuffed up a little bit. But, once he was home he was in a great mood. He was laughing and smiling.

He was very close to rolling over today. Seriously close. All he has to do is swing his little butt and he will roll over. I know I have said this before, that Mensa van is constantly hanging around house. I am pretty sure, he received his superior intellect from his mother.

Joleen has her big interview tomorrow, so wish her luck. Canon and I know that she will do great!! Uncle Andy is coming up this weekend, so are all the Grandparents. It looks like busy weekend at the Zaske's. It should be fun!

OH BOY! Just when we thought everyone was getting better, Bill gets sick! He thinks its food poisoning from olives! Of all things, OLIVES! He also ate at Taco Bell so I'm not ruling that out! I however threw out the jar of olives and the rest of his pizza, just to be sure! I felt so bad that I didn't even think to look for the Immodium from our Mexico trips until today or he could have been taking it earlier. We just figured that since we didn't have Pepto we didn't have anything.

So I have been taking care of my boys all day. Canon let me clean the bedroom today. He laid in the middle of the bed and stared at the light and the pictures on our wall. He would coo and kick his legs and I would talk back to him. He is QUITE the talker. He is also giggling a lot now too. I love it when he giggles and coos and just wants to get your attention, it is so cute. He is also flirting. I am almost positive that he winked at me today too ;0)

We got some snow down here today. It was about an inch or so.

This week we have lots of work to do. Bill's soccer game is at 8:00 on Friday so we will be going to that and Friday afternoon will be picking out and ordering our professional 3 months pictures.

Saturday, January 27

My excuse for not blogging for Saturday until Sunday is that I was sick. I however started feeling better and am glad that I had all day Friday to sleep and rest up for the weekend! Bill has been taking care of me and Canon. He is the best dad and husband anyone could ask for. I have finally been hugging and snuggling with Canon because he is sick too. I was afraid to before because I didn't want to get him sick. It is really hard to stay away from him because he's so cute and cuddly!

I went to Einsteins and got bagels and coffee and blackberry lemonade for breakfast. It is usually a Sunday thing but I thought we needed it on Saturday instead. Bill's team lost again on Friday but the score was only 8-4 this time.

So pretty much Saturday was a day of rest and recooperation.

Friday, January 26

So I am sick now and I stayed home from work today. I stayed in mjy pajamas until 4:00 today when Bill & Canon came home. I know I felt like the worst mom in the world being home while Canon went to daycare :0( I was glad they came home early though.

It was so cold today that we put Canon in his pram and he looks like a little bear cub in it. He really likes it and looks adorable in it. Thanks, Grandma & Grandpa Littlejohn I can stay nice and warm now ;0)

Brooke said that Canon had a good day and was a good boy. He laid on the floor and watched Ian play. I am sure he was thinking(if only I could figure out how to do that too, it looks like fun)!

We gave Canon a bath tonite to help break up the cold in his chest. He LOVES baths! I can see him as the kid that turns into a prune and will be hard to get out of the tub! We love bathtime too because it makes him so happy. He's also starting to learn how to splash too!

Bill has another late game tonite. Canon and I will not be waiting up for him but we hope he does well ;0)

We got a lot of snow down here today (2 inches). I know that doesn't seem like much but it sure was enough to make the roads bad.

Thursday, January 25

So, everyone in the family is feeling yucky. Bill & I have colds and think Canon may be coming down with one too. We are trying to fight them with Zicam and Cold-Eeze so we will see if that works.

I am so happy tomorrow is Friday and all I have to do is make it through the day and then can come home and just hang out and hopefully rest.

I had my annual review today and it went fine. I also have an interview for a position on Tuesday. It should be interesting.

Canon was in a pretty good mood today and when Bill picked him up (he let me go shopping) he was talking about a storm to Bill. He is such a cutie. I so miss snuggling with him when I am at work!

Wednesday, January 24

So, Canon slept from 8:00-6:00!!! Woo hoo!!! We did not know what to do with ourselves. We still woke up around 3 and off and on until we got up! Too funny. When he woke up he was in the best mood and was full of smiles! We went to bed at 9:00 so that is why there was not a blog for yesterday until today ;0)

I went out to lunch today and made the fastest shopping trip ever at Baby Depot and walked right by Carters! I could not believe I did it! I think I do have a problem. hee hee
I went and bought a few teethers for Canon so we have plenty to give him when he is fussy. We tried these teething tablets but those didn't seem to work too well. We may try them again though.

Bill & I are fighting colds. It cracks me up that Canon's first cold will be from one of us and not daycare. Everyone thinks they are germ factories but we appear to be. We are trying out Zicam and Cold-Eez to shorten the length of the cold maybe ;0)

Tuesday, January 23

Canon was a cranky boy at Brookes and only slept for 10 minutes. We think he is teething. We can't see any inflammation or feel a teeth per se but he is sticking everything in his mouth. He likes when we put our fingers in there too.

Bill & I swaddled him up last night around 8, put him in his crib, turned his crib aquarium on, and turned off the light and said good night. He fussed for a few minutes and Bill made me stay out of the room and within minutes he fell asleep.

We then went to bed at 9 and you will have to look at Wednesdays blog to see how long we slept ;0)

Monday, January 22nd

Sounds like case of the Mondays... That is exactly how we felt today. Canon was being a little cranky. It seemed like he would be smiling one second and the next he was screaming his little head off. Joleen had the day off today (one of her "A" days), so she received the brunt of the crankiness. Finally, he went to sleep at 9:30pm.

I came home to watch him for a couple of hours, while Joleen went to a Doctor appointment. He basically yelled at me the entire time. I guess that is going to happen with a little baby. Joleen believes he is passionate, I think he is a crank-adee-crank sometimes. Joleen reads too many baby books...

Sunday, January 21

Today Canon got up for good around 8:00 and I am not sure what time he got up before that because I am spoiled and Bill got up with him. He is SO wonderful and I am SO lucky! His mama raised him so well ;0) Thanks Mom Z.

What a HUGE football day! The family watched football all day and before that we played with Canon and read the paper. I am glad that the Bears won and I am rooting for the Patriots right now! I would be okay if the Colts won too because Peyton is a good guy too ;0)

Canon is getting SO strong. He now arches his back and can scoot when he wants to be difficult. He also has the fastest hands in the Midwest! He gets them out all the time before we get a chance to swaddle them! He is currently sleeping. I put him in his crib around 8:30 and he just smiled at me and then closed his eyes and went back to sleep. He is such a good boy.

It snowed and sleeted down here today so it made for a yucky day. I took some pictures of Canon yesterday and today with my new lens' and I got some natural light in with no flash. If they turn out well I will post some.

Bill made steak nachos today and they were so yummy! Klink cow is so good!

Well I must get back to watch my Patriots and to download my pictures. Toodles!

Saturday, January 20

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y.... it is the weekend. Canon slept until around 5:00am and then wanted to eat. But, he went back to sleep until around 7:30am. He has been very active today; smiling, giggling and squeeling all day. The seems to me that he is happy little boy.

Joleen waited up for me to come home from our indoor soccer game last night. The game started at 10:45pm. We lost again, but we are having a great time. Patrick came up with a great team motto last night: "Your team designs buildings like ours plays soccer..."

Mickey and I went to Target Sports today and rented a couple guns to shoot in their range. I was shooting a Smith & Wessen .40 caliber (but it started to jam), so they switched it out with a Glock 23-.40. I don't like either one of those, I believe I am a heavier gun kind of guy...

Canon is starting to use his hands more. I watched him take his 'nuk' out of his mouth and then put it back in. He is a genius.... I don't want to brag, but I think I saw a Mensa van parked outside the house the other day, they are scouting him out...

Friday, January 19

Today was a snowy day down here. We did not get much snow but it was actually kind of nice to see it. It looked really pretty with the ice still on the trees too.

I got quite a bit of work done today and stayed focused. It was hard though because I have been showing everyone the proofs of Canon. I think that this weekend we need to pick our favorites and decide what we are going to get. They are quite costly so it may not be a lot.

Bill is at his weekly soccer game and Canon is sleeping. I am watching the movie "The Mexican", playing on the internet, and picking up around the house.

Canon ate well today. He chowed down 2 bottles this morning before he went to Brookes. He took a few naps and seemed pretty tired today. We did not get lots of smiles or giggles but I guess Brooke did. Oh well, I get him for the next 3 days so I plan on playing, cooing, smiling, and giggling with him as much as I can. I also plan on taking lots of pictures with him using my new soft focus lens ;0)

Thursday, January 18

Another day of work!! blech!!! I definitely think the best job would be the job of taking care of Canon all day! I have not worked a Monday yet though so at least those days he's all mine and I see him and can play with him for more than 1 hour like on days that I work but oh well. I am sure as he grows older he will sleep less at night and play more ;0)

I am watching Gray's Anatomy and I am shocked!!! This show gets better & better!

I showed everyone the proofs and they all loved them. If the grandparents are reading this we only have the proofs until 01-31 so if they wanted to plan a day to come down and look at them then they should!!! ;0) We welcome company. WE LOVE COMPANY!!!!

Not much else is going on. I am excited tomorrow is FRIDAY! Bill has an echogram scheduled on Saturday so we'll see how that goes. This all started because he had a physical and his EKG came back abnormal. He then went and saw a cardiologist and had a stress test done. The dr. said that Bill has a low heart rate much like an athlete and he seems okay but he wanted to do a few more tests to be sure.

Wednesday, January 17

Canon got picked up from daycare early because Bill called me at work and said their power was out. I was concerned that ours and the daycare (Brooke's) was out too but they were fine.

We got our proofs today because Brooke's husband Ted works at Focalpoint and he put a rush on them for us ;0) There are some really cute ones. There are black and white and color. Some are with Canon and one of us or both of us and some by himself. I wish we had more by himself. Maybe he will be more into it for his 6 months.

We chatted and cuddled and played with Canon when he wasn't napping. Bill has him swaddled in two blankets in hopes that he does not wake up at 3 am and start playing with his hands. He is still waking up once a night but once is doable. We know some day he will sleep through the night.

I went to Carter's again today and bought some more cute clothes for my little man. I think there may come a time when I may be banned from there ;0) I also found out that their sales usually last for 2 weeks and new items come in on Tuesday nights so that means their new sales start on Wednesdays.

Tuesday, January 16

Today was a fun drive into work. We had an ice storm here last night so the roads were icy and slick. The ice on the trees were so beautiful when the sun shined. It really was breath-taking and I wished I had my big camera.

I went out at lunch to pick up some nursing accessories but of course was right across from Carters so I had to go in. I bought Canon 3 outfits and a sleeper all for around $35. I was pretty happy. I used to wonder why my friend Lisa said she would rather shop for baby clothes than regular clothes but now I know. Its because they are so cute. I love Carters new summer collection. I especially like the blue with orange. We already bought the orange polo and shorts for Canon. He is the most stylish baby around ;0)

Speaking of Canon, he was a good boy at daycare today. He went through 3 bottles and took a huge 2 hour nap. We got home and I played with him and chatted with him about his day and then he fell asleep from 6-7, woke up at 7 and ate and then went back to sleep until 8. Dad got him from the gym and then we all played on the floor together and cooed and smiled and had fun family time.

After that we put the little guy in his pjs and swaddled him and fed him and put him in his crib to go to bed. Good night all. Sleep tight!

Monday, January 15

What a great day! I had today off and got to spend the whole day with Canon! We slept a lot and he ate a lot. I think he's still in a growth spurt. I think he is back to his regular eating schedule now and I guess we are back to using the little bottles again. I will make sure to give Brooke extra bags of milk for tomorrow though. I don't want the little guy to be hungry.

I have started giving him some tummy time after I change him. I put him on his tummy and his hands and then turn on the aquarium that attaches to his crib. It lights up and the little sea creatures move and it plays a few different songs that he likes. He really seems to like music. Its fun to watch him once he hears it. He looks around and them smiles.

Bill is trying to get him to go to sleep right now. It is cute they are talking to one another. Bill will make a sound and then Canon will imitate it. It's lots of fun to watch.

Well tomorrow is a work day but at least it's jeans week for me! I love wearing jeans!

Sunday, January 14

Today was a pretty laidback day. We watched football all day and Canon loved it. He sat in his bouncer and it vibrated his butt. He listened to the music from it and watched football. He was almost like a man in his lazy boy recliner watching football. He is so funny and it's fun to watch to see what he does next.

We were all happy that the Bears and the Patriots won! I decided to go shopping after the Bears game because we needed more big bottles and other baby stuff. I went to Target and Kohls. I have finally figured out that I can not go shopping without buying Canon something because he's such a cutie! I bought him an all in one fireman outfit. His Uncle Kyle & Uncle Trent will like it ;0) I am SO excited for this summer because Carters has their new line out and I saw some cute stuff for the little guy. I am going to wait until it gets closer to that time so I know what size he'll be wearing. He is almost out of 0-3 and is in to 3 months now.

He had a growth spurt today because he would eat every 2 hrs and then sleep when he wasn't eating. We decided that he was ready for the big bottles. He had been eating 4 oz and he seems to be finishing all of his bottles so we are bumping it p to 5 oz.

Today was Canon's 3 month pictures. We decided to get them done at Focalpoint in Farmington. This is where our friend Mark works and also our daycare provider's husband, Ted. Our photographer was Amanda and her assistant is Heather. They loved Canon and said he did awesome for a 3 month old. He lasted for an hour. We took family shots and just Canon shots and then some with just mommy and Canon and then Daddy and Canon. One of the funniest things that happened during the photo shoot is when he started to get upset and so all four adults started singing "Itsy Bitsy Spider" to a baby just to get him to smile. He sure had us where he wanted us ;0)

I am SO happy that he did so well. I knew that he was in a good mood when he woke up this morning around 8:30. He was smiling and was SO happy. He slept from 8:30-4:00 and then till 6 and then till 8.

We came home and we cleaned the house a bit, and then Canon and I took a nap. One of the best things the nurses told us in the hospital was to put him on my chest when he was crying and now he loves skin to skin and to sleep on people's chests. I love when we take naps and he sleeps on my chest!

He smiles a lot now and takes his "nuk" (pacifier) out of his mouth and holds it in his hand. The other day when Bill was taking him to daycare Canon decided to take his hat off in the 3 minutes it took to get there. He is a character.

I must go so I can spend time with the family.

Friday, January 12

I have been talking about starting a blog for about a week now. I decided that with family a couple of hours away and also family and friends out of state that it would be a good way to keep everyone up-to-date on what is going on with Canon and I guess occasionally us.

I was SO glad today was Friday, I need to get some sleep and I am looking forward to some naps this weekend. I should be taking a nap now but I wanted to start our blog instead. Bill is at a soccer game. He joined and indoor league through work. Last week Canon & I went and they lost 13-1. I guess they were put in the advanced league - too funny! The arena said they would try to mix some games with less advanced leagues to make it more fun.

Canon turned 3 months on Tuesday, they grow so fast! He went to his 3 month checkup today and weighed 12 lbs 10 ozs and was 22 3/4 inches long. He also had shot #2 of his Hepatitus B vaccination. We did not know about this and he was NOT happy about it! I guess he was really loud and Bill said it seemed more like he was yelling and not crying - poor little guy!
